Chapter 13

When I arrived at the hospital I rushed to Jill's room. When I opened the door there were lots of doctors and nurses around her bed. My blood run cold. I entered the room but a nurse told me to wait and I went to the waiting room. Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours. I couldn't sit still. I started pacing up and down the waiting room thinking of many possible outcomes of the situation. My heart felt like everything was fine but my mind was going insane. After four hours of waiting Dr . Reynolds came to talk to me.

Not bothering to greet him. I immediately asked. "Is Jill okay?"

The doctor sighed unsure of what to say. After a few moments of silence he spoke. "Jill woke up a few hours ago and That's when i called you. About 30 minutes after the call she suffered a seizure and she went unconscious. It took a while to revive her but she's stable. We need to keep her for a few more weeks for observation."

"Can I see her?"

"Yes but you cannot stay for to long."

I walked away from the doctor and I headed to Jill's room. My palms sweaty and my heart was pounding. I took a deep breathe and I opened the door. When I opened the door she got up from the bed quickly her body paralyzed with fear. I quickly went over to her and I wrapped my arms around her. After a few minutes she started to relax. I didn't know what to say to her right now. I was so curious as to what happened but it was too soon to ask those questions. I needed to tell her so much but I don't think she's ready.

"How are you feeling?" I asked her.

"Tired." she said her voice sounding raspy.

"Do you want some water." I asked and she nodded. I rushed to the waiting room and i grabbed her two bottles of water and I rushed back. I gave it to her and she quickly drank them. I kept staring at her beautiful face. Despite all the scars she still managed to look stunning.

"Is that all you want?" I asked, she simply nodded and gave me a small smile.

My curiosity got the best of me and I said, "Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"What happened?"

She sighed. "I don't remember everything but I don't want to talk about this right now." I simply nodded. I gave her a hug and when I pulled back I saw her eyes opened wide with fear while she faced the door. I looked in the doorway and I didn't see anyone or anything. I was about to question her but the doctor came in and he told me I had to leave. I kissed Jill on her forehead and I went home to get a few hours of sleep before school.

The next morning i woke up and I did my morning routine then I was headed to another day of jail. When I entered the school everyone was staring at me.I know it was about the incident with Kacey and I didn't like all this attention. I felt a bit uneasy but I ignored the feeling. When I got to my locker, I took out my Chemistry text book and I headed to class. I kept my head down to avoid the attention and I bumped into someone. When I looked up I saw it was Aiden. Oh great here we go again, I thought.He grabbed me by my collar and he pushed me into an empty classroom. I closed my eyes as I waited for the punches but it never came.

"Look nerd, I know what you did to Kacey and how you stood up to her and I just wanted to say that it was time somebody stood up to her."

I was in disbelief. "I th-thought Kacey was your fr-frie-end?" I questioned my nerves getting the best of me.

"She is but nobody likes her especially after what she did to Jill. Nobody knew about Jill attempting suicide but she posted it on her twitter now everybody in the school knows."

" How could she possibly know? It's not like that was on the news or anything."

"I don't know man but be careful Kacey is dangerous."

Aiden walked out of the empty classroom and I was left there wondering about how Kacey found out. It couldn't be Marcus because there was no way he could know. He might have noticed Jill was gone but he probably thought she ran away. I heard the bell and I rushed to class.

After school was over I rushed to the hospital to see Jill. She looked better than yesterday. I brought her some of her favorite snacks and she thanked me. We talked about random things for a few hours until I had to leave to go home.

FOUR WEEKS LATER

The past four weeks has been uneventful. I went to school and after I went to visit Jill but today I woke up happier than usual. Not only was today Friday but Jill was finally being discharged. I told her about my mom and Marcus but I left out the part about Kacey and I invited her to stay with me while my mom is in rehab. She was hesitant at first but she finally agreed. I didn't go to school today but I stayed home to cook Jill. I want her to be comfortable went out to buy her a few pair of jeans and a few hoodies. At about 1pm I took a shower and then I headed to the hospital to pick her up. When I got there I went straight to her room but the strange thing is that she wasn't there. I went to the lobby and I saw Dr. Reynolds. I quickly rushed to him.

"Excuse me Doctor but where is Jill?"

"Your father came to pick her up."

My father? Now I was beyond confused. I thought back to the time when I told the Doctor I was Jill's brother. No no no it can't be. My heart began to beat faster and my palms began sweating I rushed out of the hospital and I jumped in my car. I can't believe Marcus has her.
