    natsu's scarf resembled scales. scales that gently wrapped his neck, reminding him that igneel watched over him always. natsu could never just give them away.

   

    they had saved his life once. they were always around him when his motion sickness came back. they always kept his neck warm in winters.

   

    "igneel'll always be there for natsu, his dear son."

   

    but there were times that the scales would find themselves wrapping lucy's neck, and sometimes her long, blonde hair along with it.

   

    igneel would always be there for him.

   

    and so would lucy. that, he needed no scarf to help remember.
