Death is Peaceful; Love is harder:
Preface:
I never thought death would be so easy, so painless. So unknown and scary, and then I woke up. It was like drinking acid, and then jumping in a pool of it, and then it was gone. Death is peaceful, as it turns out, it's just like falling asleep, but in the end, we have to face reality, that's the hardest part...
Okay, we're 2380 feet in the air, and now I decide that I'm shit scared of heights, thanks brain! Take your time. ''30 seconds to jump-time, Ms Lovington'', the instructor was taut with excitement, unfortunately, I didn't share his enthusiasm. ''Ah, okay'', this was the stupidest idea I've ever had, who else jumps at 3000 feet, on their 18th? Most normal people in London just get drunk, but no I have to go all classy and go sky diving... ''Off you go Elle!'' said Lisa, she was too chicken to join me, but insisted I go by myself, because 'the instructor is creepy'. ''yeah, sure Lisa, bye!'' I could hardly hear the instructor with the engine roaring ''Here you go Elle!'' all I heard was 'go Elle!'.
And then I jumped.
I could hear her screaming as I was falling further towards the earth, without a parachute, only the stupidest person in the world doesn't put on a parachute before jumping out of a plane. I could see the instructor, trying to gain speed to reach me, but I'd already fallen too far. I never realized death was so easy, painless, not even scary, it's like the part of your brain that gets scared is disconnected. I remember hitting something, it was cold, and hard, like a boulder but I didn't scream, I saw his face. ''Are you okay?! What happened!'' he yelled, exasperated. But I couldn't talk, I was too terrified, there was blood all over and he was so beautiful, like nothing I had ever seen, I was literally speechless. ''Don't worry, I'm going to help you...'' I watched him bend down to kiss me, and then I blacked out. It felt like I was burning alive, like I had drunk acid and was simultaneously bathing in it, I could hear him talking to me. ''It's going to be alright, you'll get better'' I couldn't remember how to scream, but if I could, everyone would have heard me. Then all of a sudden, the pain was gone, I could feel my body getting stronger, birds were chirping and water was flowing around me, it was beautiful. ''So this is what heaven is like''
I said to myself, ''Wow, it's truly beautiful'' Then I heard laughter near me, what kind of heaven is this? ''You're not dead'' I heard him say, ''just,'' he sighed '' better''. He was on top of me then, holding me down, as if I was going to get up and attack someone, I didn't understand. ''What are you doing?'' I half-screamed, half-whispered. ''Stopping you from hurting yourself, you're not quite ready to get up yet,'' he said, smiling but serious. ''What are you talking about?'' I said, ''let me up!'' I pushed at hard as I could, he let go of me, and I sprang up to face him, I was shocked when I let out a screech. ''What the hell was that?!'' I asked him, looking around. He laughed, ''you.'' He said looking at me, confused why I'd asked. ''That can't be, we don't, I haven't, made that sound bef...'' he cut me off. ''Humans, don't make that sound, but we do.'' He said as he came towards me, faster than anyone I've ever seen.
''We are vampires'' he said, taking me in his arms, ''you are a vampire now'', he continued holding me tighter. ''What? There's no such thing, that's impossible'' I choked. ''Tell me then, why do you feel, a burn in your throat?'' he questioned. ''I'm thirsty? I haven't drunk anything, since take off...'' Then I suddenly remembered. ''Oh my god, what happened?! I thought I was dead and...then...YOU....'' I said in hysterics. ''Saved you,'' he almost asked. ''Yes, thank you, so much'' I realized then, that he was telling the truth, these strange new feelings I had, I felt, stronger, like I had enough strength to rip one of the many fir trees around us, out of the ground. ''What is your name?' he asked, brushing my cheek. ''Umm, Elle.'' ''Elle Lovington.'' I said, distracted, he was the most handsome person, I had ever seen, he had light brown hair and deep blue eyes and his skin was white with a light tan colour about it. ''Well Elle Lovington, I'm Matthew Rogers'' He looked so lovely, the way he stood, smiling at me, I had the urge to kiss him, even though I knew nothing about his strange person, and why he saved me, so I did. I lent towards him, as if I had known him for all my life, and kissed him. ''What are you doing?'' he asked pointedly, carefully pulling me away from him. I laughed, ''kissing you'' what a stupid question, I lent towards him again. ''I don't think you should do that'' he suggested. ''Why?'' I said, why wouldn't he want me to kiss him, ''Have you seen yourself?'' his eyes narrowed. Oh so that's it is it? I'm too ugly for you? ''No, why?'' I asked, annoyed. ''You ask a lot of questions, you know'' I sighed, ''I know'' then I ruffled his light brown hair with my hands. He smiled, ''here'' he said, pulling me towards the river, I looked down, and I saw the most beautiful young woman, I'd ever seen, she was average height, she had beautiful auburn hair, that shimmered a blonde color in the sunlight and beautiful blue-gray eyes. ''Who is that?'' I asked Matthew. He chuckled, stroking my cheek, and kissing me. ''you, silly''
