An Afternoon for Two

"Was it really a coincidence that we met?"  Niall stretched his arm out on the top of the couch behind me.

I spent about two seconds deciding whether I should lie, or just tell him the truth. I take pride on being a mostly honest person, so I chose the truth. "Coincidental looking, but no coincidence, it was planned."

Niall chuckled lightly and moved the teeniest bit closer to me. " So you spilled your smoothie all over me on purpose?"

My face was getting hot, "Oh no, that was an accident, I'm a natural born klutz. Again, I'm really sorry about that."

"Don't worry about it, believe it or not, I own multiple shirts so I think I'll be able to go on." I'm sure he could see how pink my cheeks were becoming, so I was grateful when he left the topic of my clumsiness. "So are you and Hannah huge fans?"

"Hannah yes, but huge isn't exactly the word I would use for myself. I haven't seen the movie, nor do I own any merchandise, but I have listened to some of your music, and it's really good." I smiled and tucked a loose piece of hair behind me ear. "Don't tell Hannah, if she found out I actually knew the lyrics to your songs, she'd make me sing along to every single song every time we drove somewhere."

"My lips are sealed." He made a lock and key motion with his hand.

Sitting here, on this couch with him just makes me so happy. He probably thinks I'm smiling like an idiot, but I can't help it. Niall's just so genuinely nice, any stranger can see it on his face. It's so clear, any other boy I know would have a bored look on his face by now, or would be blatantly staring at my chest, but not Niall. This probably sounds really stupid, but I feel like even his eyes are smiling at me.

"So tell me about you." I took my feet off of the coffee table and turned my body towards Niall.

"What about me?"

"Tell me you're whole story. I rested my elbow next to Niall's arm on the back of the couch, and my face on my hand. "If I were to watch your movie, what would it tell me?"

Niall went on to tell me about the beginning of his dream to him currently living it and everything in between. Then we continued to ask the other questions about themselves until we decided to watch the first movie in the new popular series, before we went and saw the second one tonight. About an hour into the movie I started to fall asleep and the last thing I remember is resting my head on Niall's shoulder with his arm wrapped around me.

"Emma, Niall, wake up."

"Hmm?" I hummed.

"Emma, Niall, wake up it's almost five, we need to leave." A male voice spoke again.

It wasn't until Niall began to move underneath me that I opened my eyes.

"Eh-what?" Niall asked rubbing his eyes. "Oh hi" he smiled at me. I was laying on top of Niall, his arm still wrapped around me.

"Uh hi" I said sitting up, finally making eye contact with Harry. "What did you say? We need to leave?"

"Yes, we're going to dinner befo-"

"Emma, what the hell?!" Hannah then entered the living room, along with the other boys. "I called you like a hundred times."

"Well" I rubbed my eye and licked my dry lips, "as you can see, and hear" I cleared my voice, "I was just sleeping, and why wouldn't you check our room first? That's one of the most logical first places to look."

"Never mind that, boys out, we need to get dressed." Niall smiled at me sheepishly before being shooed out the door with the rest of the boys.

I stood up and stretched before heading towards my room to get dressed. "Hannah how nice do I need to dress?"

"Wear that dress skirt thing, ya know, the dark blue one with the flower print."

I put on what Hannah suggested, and added a necklace and a pair of earrings. I threw my hair up into a messy, but nice looking bun, added a dash of makeup, and slipped some sandals on before returning back to the couch to wait for Hannah to be ready. I can't believe I fell asleep on top of Niall, he's so sweet for letting me, he was really warm and comfortable though. He's also incredibly funny, I'm really glad I got to meet him. I can't lie to myself, when he was talking about his family, and his love for the boys, I wanted to kiss him right then and there. I really hope I'll get the chance to do it again.

"Okay are you ready?" Hannah said as she walked out of her room, before we heard a knock at our door.

"Ladies we need to go" Liam said through the wooden door.

I opened the door, "We're ready" I smiled. Hannah walked out and we made our way to the elevator where the rest of the boys stood. "So where are we eating?"

"Some little Chinese restaurant, it's not too far away, and we shouldn't get mobbed there." Harry answered.

"Great, I love Chinese." The elevator dinged before opening and we all stepped in, I was shoulder to shoulder with Niall. "Sorry I fell asleep on you earlier." I looked up at him.

"It's okay, you aren't heavy, and you're warm." He smiled back and I got this warm feeling, "You look really pretty by the way." The feeling intensified.

"Thank you." I blushed and bumped him with my shoulder.

The elevator dinged, and we got off, I started heading towards the front to leave, but Niall grabbed my arm and stopped me, "We have to leave out the back, or we'll get mobbed, there's fans waiting outside."

I nodded my head and we left out the back, unknown to the fans. The restaurant, like Harry said, wasn't that far away or very packed. They escorted us to a big rectangular shaped table in the back and I sat across from Niall and next to Hannah, we ate and made small talk before leaving to get to the movie theater on time.

"So what did you decide?" Hannah whispered to me as we drove to the theater.

I looked at her confused.

"About Niall, are you guys friends or" She trailed off.

"Oh, yeah we're just friends."

"Well if you plan to keep your relationship strictly platonic, I suggest you two don't sit next to each other in the theater."

"What are you two whispering about back there?" Louis asked from the drivers seat.

"Just how slow of a driver you are Lou." Hannah answered and laughed, as did I, when Louis noticeably increased the speed. "You're ganna kill us!"

"There's just no pleasing you is there?" Louis retorted, but returned to the legal limit.

I moved to continue looking out the window, but Hannah stopped me by placing a hand on my shoulder, "When we get back, I want to know every single detail about what happened between you two this afternoon." She whispered.

I knew how Hannah was, and I knew that her quizzing me over the entire afternoon was inevitable, so I just nodded and continued to gaze out the window until we arrived at the theater. Before Liam could go buy the tickets, I offered to do it, just in case the ticket seller was a fan, he insisted on paying and made me take his money before he agreed to let me do it. After I gave everyone their ticket, and bought some popcorn, we headed towards the theater. Niall smiled at me as I walked past him, towards Hannah and Louis, who were at the front of our group, so I could sit by them, and not Niall, like Hannah said.

"Hey Emma, could you maybe go buy me some licorice?" I turned around to see Harry sheepishly looking at me and holding a couple bills in his right hand.

"Uh yeah, sure Harry." I smiled and went to get his candy. I didn't mind, but I felt my chances of sitting next to Hannah slip away. I had to wait behind only one person, so I'm sure I probably only missed one movie trailer. Shit I thought when I turned around to head back to the theater, Niall was standing by the entrance, looking down at his phone.

He looked up once he noticed me walking towards him, "I thought i'd wait for you, so you'd know where we're sitting." God he's so nice.

"Thanks, that's really nice of you." He smiled and led me in. God damn Harry and his god damn licorice.
