-Sorrow-

Oikawa had always cried by himself, quietly in a locked room. Or he had cried into Iwaizumi's shoulder seeking comfort. Iwaizumi had always told him that he was ugly when he cried, but he had never actually seen Oikawa's face when he cried, if he had, then maybe he would have seen the words in Oikawa's eyes.

Perhaps it was his pride that kept him from breaking down in public. And it was also probably his pride that kept him from interrupting the ceremony. The wedding ceremony that is. How could he ever admit it? He wouldn't say it, he wouldn't.

And so he stood by, gave his best friend a big wide smile, and hugged the newly wedded bride.

And he watched as his best friend kissed his new wife and smiled sweetly at her, a smile he had never seen before.

And he smiled so widely that his cheeks hurt, laughed so much that his stomach hurt, and all the while ignored the stabbing in his heart.

And so, for the first time in years, Oikawa walked home alone. He didn't go home though, his feet carried him to a river that ran through the city. He stood on the grass looking at his reflection in the clear water. For the first time in his life, Oikawa cried in public. He raised his head to the sky and let out an anguished sob. His tears streamed down his face. If anyone had been nearby they would've cried too. Just from the sorrow in Oikawa's voice. The raw, unfiltered pain, sadness and regret. When he had the chance to stop Iwaizumi from ever getting married, he hadn't. Now when he had one last chance to tell Iwaizumi how he felt, he didn't.

He ran, like a fucking coward. He ran away from his friends, from the only person who had ever understood him. He had run from that word too, that word that he would never say. At least not out loud, he wouldn't admit that he was in love.

Oikawa stepped forward, the water in the river touched his ankles.

"I've done all that I have to." He whispered, pretending that someone was listening "Now I'm not needed anymore, now I can stop the pain."

Oikawa Toru walked into the river and did not stop.

Hanamaki and Mattsun were worried. Oikawa had left Iwaizumi's wedding party early, he had smiled and waved goodbye. Hanamaki seemed to be the only person who caught onto the fact that he'd never said "See you tomorrow."

Makki and Mattsun knew. They knew how Oikawa felt, but he had fooled them too. He would have probably fooled them a little longer if he hadn't left so quickly. Makki and Mattsun excused themselves from the party barely five minutes after Oikawa. Still by the time they got outside Oikawa was long gone.

It was Mattsun who finally found him. Well actually all Mattsun saw was Oikawa's head disappear under water. He grabbed Hanamaki's hand and dragged him down to the river. Neither of them hesitated, diving straight into the river.

Oikawa couldn't swim, everyone knew that.

Three minutes later Makki and Mattsun resurfaced, a third head in between them. Swimming as fast as they could they headed back to land. They dropped Oikawa to the ground, automatically Mattsun pressed his ear to Oikawa's chest. A faint heartbeat.

Mattsun put his hands together, and forcefully pressed down on Oikawa's chest. Makki called an ambulance which arrived roughly two minutes later.

Oikawa had coughed up a lot of water but he still hadn't opened his eyes.

Oikawa was rushed to the hospital, Makki and Mattsun following behind in a taxi.

"Call Iwaizumi." Mattsun ordered, he had left his phone at the party. Hanamaki nodded and quickly dialed Iwaizumi's number.

After a short rushed conversation, the call was ended. Ten minutes of nervous waiting later, Iwaizumi burst through the doors, alone, just like Makki had requested. "Where is he?"

Makki gestures helplessly to the closed door. As if on cue the door opens and a man in a white lab coat walks out, he offers the three men a weak smile "Mr.Oikawa is awake, you may go and see him now."

Makki and Mattsun trade a glance then together they turn to look at Iwaizumi "Go on." Makki says

"We'll wait here." Mattsun adds.

Iwaizumi nods at them walking past the doctor, through the open door.

Oikawa was sitting up, gazing down at his hands, his hair fell like a curtain over his face. "Why am I still here?" He asked softly, not looking up.

Iwaizumi trembled with rage "What the hell were you thinking?!" He walked until he was right next to Oikawa. Oikawa looked up at him, his eyes dull "I finished what I had to do didn't I?" He asked "You don't need me anymore."

Iwaizumi's eyebrow twitched in anger "Where the hell did you get that!"

"You have a wife now." Oikawa stated.

"So what?" Iwaizumi's eyes burned with anger "What makes you think that I don't want a best friend anymore?!"

Oikawa bit his lip and turned away "You're really selfish Iwa-chan." He said "Why do I have to keep suffering, why do I have to wait for you to toss me out?"

"Toss you out?" Iwaizumi's hands balled into fists "You're not an object Oikawa."

"Are Makki and Mattsun outside?"

It was as good as a dismissal but today Iwaizumi wasn't going to have it. He raised his hand and in one smooth motion slapped Oikawa hard across the face. Oikawa's head twisted to the right and he let out a small gasp. He raised his hand holding it to his stinging cheek.

"I'm selfish?" He asked anger vibrating in his voice "Did you even stop to think how I would feel when Makki called me and told me that my best friend might be dead?! "

Oikawa didn't say anything. Iwaizumi stood glaring down at him for another minute. Then he turned and sat in the chair next to the bed "I'm not leaving until you tell me what's going on." He said crossing his legs.
And so the two men sat there in stiff silence for the next hour. The silence was broken by Makki and Mattsun opening the door just a crack and sticking their heads in. "Dammit." Makki cursed "They aren't making out."

"What?" Iwaizumi turned to stare.

Oikawa blushed a bright scarlet hiding his face in his hands. Makki and Mattsun moved to stand behind Iwaizmi, they each place a hand on his shoulder "You should go home, Iwaizumi." Mattsun said

"Yea, your..wife is waiting." Makki added "We'll keep an eye on him."

Iwaizumi turned to stare at the two of them, "Fine." he stood, "I'll be back tomorrow." He said exiting the room.

The moment the door closed Oikawa exhaled and drew his knees to his chest. "What have I done?" He asked

Makki and Mattsun traded a concerned glance, Mattsun walked around the bed to the other side of Oikawa. Oikawa hid his face in between his knees "I gave the best years of my life to a man, who'll never be mine."

"You didn't know?" Makki asked

Oikawa turned slightly gazing at him from the corner of his eye.

"This marriage was arranged by Iwaizumi's parents." Makki said.

"W-What?"
