Chapter 1

Ryan's POV

It all started on my way home from looking for food. Tonight was not a good night. The last several weeks hadn't had any good nights. I didn't find any food and I was stabbed in the leg when I tried to pickpocket someone, at least he didn't have
A gun.

If you're wondering, yes I'm homeless and have been since I was nine years old. My parents died in a freak car accident, and my only living relative didn't want me. I was in the foster system for almost a year, dealing with abusive and bad touch "parents" every day. I couldn't stand living like that, so I ran away and never went back. I had to avoid any form of police officers, but it was pretty easy most of the time.

I shook my head of my memories as I limped by an alleyway when a scream caught my attention. I turned to see three huge guys cornering a couple of frightened looking guys around my size. They looked to be teenagers and in a lot of trouble. "Hey! Leave them alone!" I shouted as I made my way towards them. I stood tall trying to be as intimidating as I could, knowing just how scary it was trying to deal with assholes who had nothing better to do than pick on weaker people. "I think you should mind your own business kid." The biggest guy sneered as he grabbed the smaller of the two kids and tucked him under his arm.

He stood about 6' 9", Athletic body, long black hair but it was held into a man bun, his face is brown with short stubble and emerald green eyes. Wait did he seriously call me a kid? Hey I'm seventeen that's practically an adult, even if I look like I'm twelve! Yeah being 5'0", skinny as a twig, big sterling gray eyes, and medium Brown chestnut hair probably doesn't look that intimidating. I'm way more dangerous than I look though, not really but they don't know that. "Maybe I want to make it my business." I shot back while pulling out my pistol I found in the dumpster of an old pawn shop. It wasn't actually real and had no way of ever being fired, but it was useful.

The sight of the gun distracted the guys long enough for the other three to scram, but now the focus is solely on me. I took a step back and winced while grabbing my bad leg. The action caught green eyes attention making all the anger and malice disappear from his expression. "Maybe you should give me that before you hurt yourself." Green eyes said with what looked like concern flashing across his eyes as he stepped towards me. "Back off!" I ordered as I clicked the safety off aiming right at him.

"Easy love, I'm not going to hurt you. It looks like you hurt your leg there. Why don't you come with us and we'll get you patched up." Green eyes suggested as he continued to advance completely ignoring the gun, his hands held up in a calming gesture. I clicked the safety back on  before shoving the gun in my pants and taking off, sprinting while ignoring the pain in my leg.

"Split up and grab him unharmed!" I heard green eyes bark out before several sets of feet started to follow me. I was zig zagging through alleyways and abandoned buildings trying to lose them, but they weren't giving up. "Kid stop!" I heard one of them shout as I ran into traffic dodging cars left and right. I was almost across the street when a side mirror on an suv clipped my shoulder sending me sprawling onto the pavement. I groaned as I held my shoulder trying to ease the pain.

The men were closing in fast and I had to get up and get out of here. I tried getting to my feet only for my leg to give out and send me crashing back to the ground. Seconds later green eyes were kneeled next to me with his gang right behind him. "Vincent go get the car! Ty called doc and told him we are bringing in my injured mate!" Green eyes ordered as he started to reach for me. I  tried to move away, but my body was screaming in protest at the motion. I was screaming in protest at the motion. "Hey don't move you'll make it worse." Green eyes scolded lightly. I ignored him and grabbed my pistol out of my pants and pointed at him.
