I ran away from the crowded pack den and ran deep into the thick Tennessee mountain woods. We had come back from hunting a buffalo herd in the valley. and I needed to cool off. I ran towards the creek and jumped in. Wolves typically don't like water, but I'm different. I have always been different. My best friend, Josh, too. We weren't like the other wolves, we had stronger senses, more imagination, and we see the world in a different way. I swam up and pulled myself onto the shore with my front paws. I shook myself slinging water everywhere.

"Well, I didn't expect to be wet today," a familiar voice said behind me and I turned to see Josh.
"Well, I didn't know you were there," I retorted, and he simply chuckled in reply.
He barked at me and jumped across the creek and I followed him. We padded along the path for a while in silence. That is, until I sensed something unnatural. My ears perked up listening for any noise. I lifted my snout and sniffed the air. Something new, something different was in the area.
"You sense it too?" he asked.
"Yes, I do. It feels like there is some type of force here," I replied.
"Magic, it must be. There were legends passed down in the pack. Maybe they're not legends," he said, "what do you think?"
"Maybe, but we can't jump to conclusions," I said.
"Right," he looked ahead and started running up the path.
"Hey!" I yelled and ran after him.
After a while I caught up to him. He was standing in front of an old structure built by humans. I had a weird feeling in my gut as I looked up at the place. I crept up the wooden steps and through the open door. Josh looked at me in shock but followed. I walked through the rooms barking and growling slightly. In the last room there was a fireplace with a burning fire and a human in front of it. I didn't make a sound and neither did Josh, but the lady turned around smiling at us. I backed away until I was standing beside my best friend.

"Hello," the lady said, "welcome to my hideaway, I have been expecting visitors."
I barked hello even though I knew humans can't understand us. She smiled sweetly at me and looked at Josh. She studied us carefully and quietly. I growled softly at her. I sent her a warning through growls. She chuckled.
"I can understand you, dear friend. Go ahead and speak. I am not a regular mortal as I seem to be. I have been blessed. Go ahead and say what you're thinking," she said. I looked at Josh for assurance and he nodded. I turned back to the person before us.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am Malaysia Heart. I was a regular human with no strengths, but a simple punch. I was wandering through the woods on my own and crossed paths with an old, dying witch," she smiled brightly and continued. "The old creature needed someone to pass her powers, spells, and beliefs to. She chose me and I gladly accepted. I am now the messenger of The Half-blood Pack."
"You said you have been expected visitors. Do you mean us? And why?" I shot two more questions at her.
"Yes, I mean you. I had a vision as I slept last night. I recall a voice saying 'Two wolves of the same color will wander into your grounds. Keep an eye out for them. The spell you have been taught by The Half-blood Pack was made for them. Make them our new alpha's. Look for the violet-eyed one and the brown.' Then following that I woke up and practiced the spell to prepare for this moment," she explained like it was nothing and just a simple conversation. She said it as you would say, oh look a butterfly, I'm going to go catch it. Yay!
"The Half-blood Pack, who are they?" Josh suddenly spoke up.
"They are a pack of werewolves. People who look like humans and age like them but live in packs and shift into wolves whenever they like. They told me some legends. You, the violet-eyed one do you know who your mother is?" she said with a serious expression on her face.
"No, I never really knew my mother. She was killed when I was 4 years old," I said questioningly.
"Your mother is the werewolf moon goddess. She is where the violet eyes come from. Your mother turned herself into a wolf and made herself the mate of your father. You are a rare type, dear," she turned to Josh, "You're not of the goddess' children but you are heavily blessed by her. It is fate that you two have met me here. I was told by the moon goddess herself to use my magic to turn you into werewolves and take you to the pack as the new Alphas. Still, you will not be of the normal wolves. You both are powerful and are sure to have powers beyond beliefs. You both shall master the elements and bind them to your control."
"Wow!" Josh and I said in an awkward unison.
"I'm up for it as long as you are," he said looking to me.
"Would our wolves look the same?" I asked.
"Yes," the sorceress said.
"Would we have to keep this a secret from our normal pack?"
"Yes."
"Ok, I'll do it."
Suddenly there was a flash of light and I couldn't see. I felt my body changing, my fur disappears. I heard a yelp to my left and figured it was Josh. Then, the light disappeared, and I could see again. I was laying on the floor in the spot I had been standing. I looked down at my body. I had the body of an 18-year-old girl. I had long, wavy brown' hair. The sorceress handed me a mirror and I looked at my reflection. I still had my beautiful violet eyes. As I looked at my new self, I was glad the sorceress made sure I had clothes on. Somehow, I knew exactly what everything was. I realized when I changed form, I had consumed the knowledge of the sorceress. I was wearing a shoulder less black dress and black heels. I heard a gasp beside me and looked at Josh. He was stunningly cute as a human. He had messy dark brown hair and the gentle brown eyes I've always enjoyed looking into. He was taller than me and muscular. He looked up at me.
"Whoa!" he said, the first words spoken since we shifted. His voice deep, but smooth and relaxing. I laughed at his reaction to the way I looked.
I looked at his clothes and he was wearing a black suit and tie. I slowly stood up, wondering if I would stumble and fall on these human legs. As I expected, I tripped while walking. I started to fall, but two strong arms caught me. I looked up to see Josh holding me up.
"Thanks," I said.
"Yeah, no problem. You really think I would let u fall and face plant the ground?" he teased.
"I don't know. Maybe." I joked. He laughed and turned towards the sorceress.
"Now," she said, "I can't take you to the pack myself. I have orders to attend to. A lighted path will appear through the forest and it will lead you to the pack. When you arrive, they will know exactly who you are. They will be prepared, because they have been foretold of your arrival today. Good luck, friends! I must be on my way, but I will visit soon," and with that she disappeared in a burst of purple dust.
Josh looked at me. "Wow, you look beautiful," he said, "Stay with me no matter what happens. Don't split up. We don't know what is up ahead." He held my hand and pulled me outside. A bright purple path was illuminating from the ground below us creating a trail into the woods.
