"ugh," I say, as I put my head down on my desktop. I had been attempting to find something to write about for hours now and no idea has sparked. I've tried to detox my brain by drinking some coffee and taking a walk, but absolutely nothing. I've been writing for my journalism degree for three years now, and I can't even write my final paper. The paper had to be five pages long about any topic concerning something exciting and interesting.

I looked at the time and it was already 5 o'clock. I sighed. I got up from my super small, tiny desk given to us by the school. My roommate, Angela and me shared a little dorm with two beds and a communal bathroom down the hall. That we shared with like thirty other girls. I reached for my water on my nightstand near my bed, as I took a sip I kind of wished it was some wine. "Maybe a shower would help me figure out what I should write about", I thought out loud.

After, my shower I walked back to my room hanging onto my towel and caddy. I opened the door to the room, and almost cried as I saw Angela with her boyfriend. No, on her boyfriend half-dressed and looking as if they were about to eat each other alive.

"Uhm", I said trying to make an announcement that I entered the room. "Oh Madison, I'm sorry", she says still on top of him. "Angela, it's not Madison. it's Madeline.", I say going to my drawer for some clothes to grab. "Oh, I'm sorry I always forget names. ", she said as she starts to giggle and so does her boy toy. She didn't forget. "But you know the drill", she continued. I knew exactly what the "drill" was we made it three years ago when we first met. But "we" honestly didn't make it. She did. I just wanted to be on good terms with the girl I was going to live with for four years. The drill was to sleep or stay somewhere else for a couple of hours. If we wanted to have some kind of "quiet time" with a boy. But "quiet time" was not quiet for her at all.

"Yep", I said as I grabbed my clothes and left the room slamming the door behind me.  I knew exactly, who to go to in times like these. My one and only best friend, Ariel. I just hope she's in her dorm.

Ariel and I met in the second week of being a freshman. We both came from Tennessee and had the same southern accent. Ariel and I bumped into each other as I was getting some napkins in the cafeteria. She spilled her coke all over my shirt and we both just kind of laughed. We hit it off from the start. We both quickly came to find we loved the same things except, Ariel loved to party and go to clubs. I, on the other hand, hadn't been to a party since I was twelve, and that was a birthday party. She was much more out there than I was also. I loved reading books on my phone with a candlelit, all cuddled up in a cover with fuzzy socks. But we mixed together in perfect harmony. How? I don't know but we did.

I knocked on her door about three times before she answered. "Thank god", I said putting my arms around her neck. "You scared me half to death Maddy", she says returning my hug. I pulled away as she did. "What are you doing here", she said. That's when I noticed how dressed up she looked.

Ariel was always beautiful with her tan glowing skin and her nice, long black curls and amazing emerald green eyes. But tonight she looked absolutely perfect. Her hair was curled tight, and she had a full face of makeup on. She wore a short, and sexy, leopard print skin-tight dress, leather jacket, and black pumps. "Where are you going", I said instead of answering her question. "umm you know tonight is club night", she said looking at me confused. It was club night. Club night was always on Fridays.

"Oh no I forgot", I said. "It's okay, I still have a while before I leave. What's up?", she said as we both walk into the room. "Well, you see Angela is with one of her boy toys", I said tiredly as I flopped on her bed. "Oh let me guess. You left because of that stupid deal yall two had made.", she says closing the door. "Good guess", I said. "You know you can't stay here tonight either right", she sighs and walks over to her wall mirror hanging up. "What why?" I asked slightly lifting my head up at her. "Well, I won't be coming home tonight, and Emma will be here.", she said moving my legs to sit down.

Emma was the definition of a classic mean girl. She stole everyone's boyfriend in the dorm and acted like she owned the place. I thought by being twenty-one some people would grow up, but she proved me wrong. The day I learned that, is when Emma stole my ex-boyfriend right from under me. They had been sleeping for months before I found out, or really when Ariel found out. She walked in on them doing it in the bed. She must've wanted to make known to me that she was the queen because she knew that Ariel was coming back to the dorm.

I haven't talked to her since the day we almost fought in the hallway. It was about two weeks after the incident with my ex. When she knocked the groceries out of my hand. I wanted to throw her on the ground, but I was on a full-ride scholarship and the last thing I wanted to do was risk my education over some girl, who can't grow up.

"She'll only be a couple of hours", I sighed. "Madeline you know it's more than a couple hours.", she says resting her head against the wall. I knew it would take more than a couple, I just thought to say it would feel truer. "I know", I said as a sat up and joined her sitting position. "What should I do? ", I ask.

"Well, I mean you could come with me to this new club", she says smiling over at me. "Ari", I say extending the I. "Come on Mattie, we'd have so much fun, find some cute boys and dance upon them and do college girl stuff", she says jerking up and turning her body full towards me. "I don't know", I said.

"Please", she pleaded. I have no idea why I said this, and I guess I will never know, but I looked at her as I said: "Okay, I'll go".
