They stood on opposite ends of the room, only stating at each other over the mess of broken glass. Andrews gaze never left her figure as he ran a shaken hand through his hair. "You never cared." It was Emily who broke the silence. Her voice brittled as she should there, gauging his reaction. She was waiting for the slightest clue that it was over, but she didn't expect for Andrew to slowly walk over to her teary figure.
"I've always cared, Em." His left hand came up to caress her cheek, his gaze holding steady with hers. "Then where were you when I needed you?" He wiped a lone tear with his thumb, a frown making its way onto his features slowly. Shaking her head, Emily took a step back as a minute went by where the only thing heard was the clock ticking in the background. The silence provided her with everything she needed to know.
"Don't leave me..." Andrew spoke out in a guttural tone while he watched her shake her head and create more distance between them. "We can't keep doing this, Andrew. I can't keep doing this." Her voice shook as she continued, "you're never here when I need you. You're never here when things so much as start to look bad! You're ne-"
"I'm here now though!" Andrew reached out to take hold of Emily's hand, but she backed away with a sad smile and a slow shake of her head. "Now is too late."
