Episode 15 Lost But Not Found

Belle French

"Psst, Tartan!" I tossed a scrunched up piece of paper at him, a blank one, mind you. He ignored me. "Tartan!" I had been trying to get his attention for the past hour and a half. Or at least, that's what it felt like. The seconds were a snail in here. We'd been locked up in here for about a day and a half and I was growing tired of this.

"He won't answer you." said Corduroy. "We aren't supposed to talk to you." I saw him pout.

"Then why are you talking?" I inquired and I saw him visibly recoil. I knew I could get to him.

"I...I don't know."

"Quiet Corduroy, they are prisoners." with that, Corduroy promptly held his tongue. I hated seeing them like this.

"What do we do?" I asked Lemon. Peach stared at me and Lemon opened her mouth.

"They are Knighted. The only way to undo the curse is to Knight them under a new name. To do that we'd have to break past the barrier over the bars."

"Then how do we do that?" asked Cotton.

"I have not a clue." said Lemon and looked forlorn. She had gotten us into this mess, and now she couldn't get us out.

I went to her then, sitting on the bench beside her. It was cold on my bottom and I nearly stood again, but instead I patted her shoulder. "It isn't your fault this is happening." I told her, trying to be reassuring.

She looked up at me and I saw her eyes beginning to tear up, "Forgive me, I'm not usually this way. I know it isn't my fault, but it feels like it is." she cried and a tear rolled down her cheek, a well of emotions told there.

I reached up and wiped it away, "We will get out of this yet. Remember what you gave us? We are not powerless here. And I have two of Cardigan's journals. She wrote a few spells down and I have quicksilver in my possession."

"Quicksilver given to her by Queen Cardigan herself."

Lemon Meringue perked up. "The Goosedown!" her whole demeanor changed. "Can we do it?" she looked to Peach who shrugged.

"It should be simple enough, but what of the boys?"

"I can distract them, quite simply." Lemon got up off her tush and scrambled toward the bars. She gripped them so tightly her knuckles turned white as the Goosedown cuffs. "I have to pee!" she screeched. "Bring me a bedpan at once! I am a lady of highest station, I shan't tolerate this treatment! I. Have. To. PEE!" she screeched. I saw Tartan put his hands over his ears.

"Fine!" he yelled and ran off. Corduroy stayed.

"Cord! Cord can you hear me?" I asked him.

"I hear you loud and clear Miss!" he smiled at me. His wrong eye looked more blue than green for some reason.

"How do I break the barrier?"

"I...can't tell you that." he chewed on his cheek and I saw him stare to and fro, a fretful mess, his usual self. I was getting through to him.

"How long until Tartan comes back?" I asked.

"I don't know, maybe 5 minutes?" He was twiddling his toes.

"You like to talk, prefer it over silence, yes?" I asked him. I was keeping him distracted as I worked my blue Silk over the bars. The ribbons intertwined around the bars and the reddish pink barrier began to unravel.

"I like to jest...can't do that if I'm a Knight though."

"Who says you can't?" Another thread was cut loose by my sapphire cords.
