"Hermione, could you tell your new cat to stop dragging in useless things?"
I didn't even have to look to recognize the obnoxious voice. I spun around on my heel to find Fred and George howling with laughter and high-fiving at their comment clearly directed to me.
I rolled my eyes. "Fifth years, and yet you still have the maturity of a toddler?"
Ginny and Hermione's faces were red with the effort to restrain laughter as they stuffed their faces with the food Mrs. Weasley had made for breakfast.
The other Weasley's acted simply as if they didn't hear, but I knew if Mrs. Weasley hadn't been in the kitchen busy cooking she would have given Fred and George a good scolding.
Harry was off having what seemed like a very serious conversation about something with Mr. Weasley.
We had already talked about what the big deal was.
Sirius Black. He had been all the talk since Harry and I had been reunited with the wizarding world, and the fact that he was a follower of Voldemort raised my concern for Harry. But that wasn't my worry at the moment.
Currently, Fred was towering over me.
And the fact that he was practically 7 feet tall certainly didn't help.
"I'd watch your mouth if I were you, Griffins. Next thing you know a rogue bludger is coming your way next time it's Slytherin versus Gryffindor," he spat.
I raised an eyebrow. "If that's supposed to be a threat, it isn't a very good one. Keep in mind I'm a beater too. I wouldn't be surprised if my bat happened to hit the bludger right towards that big head of yours," I whispered, a sly grin on my face.
Quidditch was another reason for Fred and George to despise me. I had managed to make the team in my first year, due to McGonagall catching Harry and I trying to catch Draco when he stole something of Neville's. It was when I had managed to hit Neville's rememberall far enough that it went flying into Harry's arms over 100 feet away that I had become the youngest Slytherin beater in 39 years.
Not to brag, of course.
Well, maybe I did enjoy rubbing it in that I had made the team to Fred and George. They hadn't made it until 2nd year.
"You better shut it. Mum is willing to take any chance to kick the Slytherin out of her house," George shot back, stalking over so he was also towering over me.
"Back off, you two. We all know you'd be the ones to get in trouble anyway," Hermione commented from across the table.
God, I don't know what I would do without her.
I mean, I could have handled them. No problem. I would've said that anyway. Obviously.
I was surprised when Mrs. Weasley offered to let me stay, but I suppose she just felt bad after Ron told her what had made me leave home in the first place. Right now, I was having a debate in my own head if it would have been better to stay somewhere else rather than with Fred and George. They were like living nightmares.
