The hallway to the principal's office is long, narrow, and cold. Devoid of windows, and, apparently, heat. The sound of two pairs of feet echo through the hallway.
I want to ask why he bothers, but I keep my mouth shut, I am sure I already know why anyway. Andres used to say he hated how oppressive our society was, I guess he was just trying to get back at them......
The door was shut when we reached the end of the hallway. Andres seemed in no mood to go in, so I had to knock on the door. I knocked so lightly I couldn't even hear the sound, but still a deep voice from inside calls for us to "Come in!"
I push on the door, I cringe, expecting a terrible creak, but am pleasantly surprised to find it swing smoothly and silently open.
The nurse looks up, "Elo, have you taken your pills yet?" he asks.
I do a double take before saying "we're here for the principal."
I rub my head, I must be getting tired because it isn't the nurse in front of me but Mrs. Rogers the principal. And based on the twin looks of confusion from Andres and Mrs. Rogers, the nurse had never been there. I really do need to take my medication.
"Andres, this is the 4th time this week." Mrs. Rogers starts. "with this on our record, our behavior average is brought down to second. and you know what that means-"
"-second best is first place for losers. Yes I know, but at least this god forsaken place would be first in something." He finishes.
"No thanks to you." the principal snaps, then regains her composure. "I've been lenient, but eventually you'll be outlawed."
"That would be fine by him" I mutter.
