                                                                   Ember's POV

This is the reason I do what I do. For the rush you feel. Aspen and I are partners in crime, maybe someday we could be more though. Dammit, I sound like a fucking love sick puppy. Get over yourself, Ember. I get my head back to what I'm doing, robbing this bank. You know how some criminals have reasoning for what they do? Well, Aspen and I have no reason whatsoever. I mean, does doing it for the money count? 'Cause if that's the case, my reasoning is for the money.

You could hear the cops getting closer. Fuck. Normally I'm more careful. I continue to stuff the money in the bag until nothing more will fit. My thoughts wander to Aspen, he's probably wondering what's taking me so long. The cops cars stop and you could see them getting out of their cars and rushing into the building from the windows where I was on the top floor.

I run over to the desk where the front desk lady was sitting before I knocked her unconscious and move it in front of the double doors to give me more time.

My bag is full so I open the window and swiftly jump out and jump up to the roof. I've never been afraid of heights, so this is nothing. Quickly taking out my long thick rope from my backpack, I wrap it around the handrail and see Aspen waiting on the building across from the bank. I wrap the other end of the rope around a rock and chuck it as far and hard as I can. It, of course, reached Aspen and he gave me a thumbs up. I take out the handlebars and attach it to the rope then shove the bag of money into my backpack. 3..2...1..Jump! I jump down and zip-line across to the building where Aspen is waiting for me. He grabs my hands and pull me up like I weigh nothing. We yank the rope back in and put everything else we used in his backpack. We see the police looking around where we went. Once they finally notice us standing on the building across from them, I flip them off then start to run across the slightly damaged roof, Aspen right behind me.

"Go to the lake!" Aspen yells. I know exactly where it is and how to get there. I stealth-fully jump from the roof and land in a dumpster in an ally.

"It smells like shit." I mumble in disgust. Aspen jumps down after me and we continue to run to the forest without being seen. My long purple hair is pulled back in a ponytail as usual, but it still gets caught on branches. Finally, the familiar sight of the lake comes in view and I let out a sigh of relief.

"We made it." I grin. Aspen grins back at me, but then he checks his watch.

"I'm going to check around and make sure you're safe." he tells me in his irresistible british accent with a, honestly, beautiful smile. I nod trying not to look disappointed. God dammit, here I go again. Get yourself together, Ember. I pull out my spear from the leaves I hide it under during the day. The fish are all swarmed in one group, making it easy for me to kill two of them. If these were normal fish, you would have to cook them before you ate them. But that is not the case for these ones, where you can just take a bite of them raw. I'm not sure why there are this way, but they don't make you sick or anything.

I finish the first fish and chuck the remains in to the large lake. I'm about to eat the next when I notice two figures standing across from me. It looks like one boy with another person slung over his shoulder, then a girl standing next to him. The girl is the first one to notice me and she alerts the boy. They pull out their weapons, but don't run away like normal people would do. This brings a smile to my face. This will be fun.

I stand up slowly, dropping my fish in the process and pull out a smoke bomb in one hand and a small grenade in the other and smirk. They both run different ways around the lake, probably thinking this would fool me. I laugh at their stupidity. I figure that the boy would be more of a threat to me than the girl, him being almost double my size, so I pull the pin of the smoke bomb and throw it in his direction. He sees it coming and pulls his shirt over his mouth and his nose. Smart kid. Turning to the girl, I see that she has dropped her crossbow. I guess she figures hand to hand combat is the way to go. I like this chicks thinking. Before I see it coming, she lunges at me, knocking me off my feet. I laugh and shove her off easily. When I bring my foot up at full force, she stops it just before it hits her in the head and pulls so I lose my balance. Bitch.
