\\2MONTHSLATER//
They held hands at school, people looked at her now. Carmen thought at parties all you did was hook up and leave and never talk about it again. This was clearly not the way it worked with Mark. Carmen usually sat down at lunch with a tiny girl named Claire, she had thin lips and low cheekbones. Her hair was jet black and was always woven in a braid, she wore thick beige cardigans through out the year which Carmen couldnt stand. Carmen enjoyed her company though, she was quiet and listened to her stories.
Claire hardly talked, Carmen didn't know if Claire actually listened to when Carmen talked to her. All she really did was cough and read books Carmen never heard of. Carmen hated when Claire talked because her of her voice, Claire's voice was high and raspy. She stuttered a lot and Carmen felt bad whenever she thought about her.Today at the cafeteria, a hand slipped around Carmen's waist.
"Do you want to meet my friends?"
It was Mark.
"They wont like me, i'm 15 and you're turning 17 in a couple of months"
"So?"
"I'm boring." She sighed.
"That's a lie." He laughed.
"You barely know me."
"Carmen, c'mon." He smiled "You're my girl."
...
Mark had alot of friends, She was'nt suprised. Mark was adored by alot of people. Carmen learned important things during that lunch period.
1. Mark liked to brag.
2. Mark's friend Derrick was touchy.
Mark and Derrick were laughing at something that was apparently hilarious, speaks of wet food flew out of Derrick's mouth.
"Carmen.""Yes?"
"You don't talk much, how come?" Mark's best friend Carrie chimed in.
According to Mark, Carrie was one of the most hottest and coolest females he ever known, I just nodded and smiled. There was more to what he was saying, all that he said was true. Carrie was beautiful, she had high cheekbones, plump lips and long brown straight hair. Her body seemed like it had the perfect shape. She was interesting, she liked art, books and museums.
"I don't know, I was actuall-"
"You should hear her during bed." Mark laughed.
His friends all joined in with it, except Carrie. All she did was stare at Carmen with sympathetic eyes.
Mark slung his arm around her shoulder and kissed her forehead.
"Baby, I'm just playing." He said his dark straight brown hair brushed the top of her forehead.
Her cheeks turned bright red, she could feel the warmth going through her pale skin.
"Right." She smiled "Right."
