The gym was filled with rambunctious teenagers yelling at each other, laughing loudly, or showing off.
"Leto, help me." I muttered under my breath.
"It's not even that bad!" Killian insisted with a laugh. "I'll do the hard part, Babe." He nodded at me turned around to the large group of boys and girls. He stood there for a second, watching the kids. And without warning, a snarl echoed through out the gymnasium, so loud that I winced. All the kids whimpered and quickly fell into line. "You guys are ridiculous." He hissed. Veta has taken time out of her busy days to be here for you. To train you. To make sure you guys can hold your own.... and this his how you repay her? Is being ready really too much to ask for?"
There was a wave of hushed 'no's across the thirty or so teens. They weren't just from our Territory- a hand full came from our Brother/Sister territory; Pinelow. But I was always happy to make sure kids knew how to act and how to defend themselves. There had been a rise in attacks from other territories, and they needed to at least know the basics.
"Look guys," I said loudly, pulling my hair into something I'm sure didn't look good. "I know some of you don't want to be here. I can imagine all the fascinating things teenage werewolves could be doing." I shrugged and put my elbow on Killian, leaning on him. "A girl got attacked last week. She's still on the hospital. You need to be prepared, and I'm not going to just throw you guys to the wolves without knowing what's going on."
"Terrible pun!" Killian yelled, pushing me off him. "You're just a terrible person."
A few smiles cracked around the room, "I want two laps around the building, and then"
"Pevetra." My name was shouted loudly from behind me. "Your father, he needs you in the main house. He said it's urgent."
I scowled, knowing damn well it wasn't urgent. "And then, I guess, Killian here-" I put my hand on Killians shoulder, "will walk you through a few exercises and- luckily- you guys are moving up today to basic attacks and defense!" I winked at a very angry Killian, "so sad I'll have to miss it!"
"You cannot abandon me here." He hissed under his breath. "Your father can wait."
"You wanna tell the Alpha no?" I lifted my eyebrows at him, the though making sweat break out on his upper lip. I nodded, "that's what I thought."
I patted his shoulder and headed back toward the main house.
We had made sure we fenced in all around the living quarters, the track and the field we have for sparing. From edge to edge, it's about a mile long. So I walked away with certainty knowing they were safe whether I was there or not.
"Suzy." I said with a smile, holding my hand out to her.
She gave me a weak smile, "I'm sorry to bother you." Her voice was soft and quiet as she put a walkie talkie in my hand.
"Please, you saved me. Leto smiles upon you." She smiled warmly at my words and bowed slightly before following me in silence.
I clicked the button on the talkie, "This better be important to pull me away from training."
"Over, Over?"
"this Better be important, over!" I growled into the walkie.
"So serious, I like it." Harvey echoed through the talkie. "I don't know what's going on. Switch to Channel five and ask dad. Over."
I sighed heavily, switching to channel five. "Dad?"
"Still me." Laughed Harvey wildly.
"Sometimes I think about what it would be like being an only child. Over." I switched channels before he could respond. "Father?"
