I awoke to hear Loren screaming as gently as a can I wrap her in a hug “Calm down be brave” I say as I hold her close suddenly there is a sharp pain in my shoulder I look down at Loren and see her mouth wrapped around my arm.

I start to feel light headed and try to push her away but it is like pushing a statue she retaliates by pulling my arm closer it was the snapping of my arm that brought her back to me “Dan!!!” I hear her scream as my eyes close.

I awake to the doc bandaging my arm “what happened” I asked he stares at me a long time “we where attacked and Dan Loren is one of them” he said I sat up and slugged him with my good hand and he clutched his bleeding nose.

“She is not one of them you hear me doc she, she did not kill me” I snap at him as he starts to sit up “she bit you and broke your arm tell me if not one of them then what is she” questioned the doc.

I ran passed him calling Loren’s name over and over as I brush passed the rescued people a dread grows inside me as I passed them Loren would have ran up to me by now “Loren!” I yell as I catch sight of a van speeding away.

It is then that a disgruntled women grabbed my arm “Dan sir the children there all gone” she wails.

“My god the kids they took the kids” I say more parents surround me all asking if I had seen there kids.

“Everyone inside” I say and to my relief they follow me in but my relief is short lived as the man I had saved earlier takes hold of my arm “please I freed the others but Amber she wasn’t there I thought she would be in the front but she was not there please I think they took her” he rambled as tears streamed down his face.

“Everyone calm down” I yell as I march up the isle toured the podium “we will attack the monsters at there farm and get the children and Amber back” I added the last part in the hope that it would calm Mr. Crossbow down he was shaking like a leaf.

It was then that my old friend Simon and the doctor stepped for ward they had several people at there backs I counted at least ten and there where not that many of us to begin with they held there guns at me.

“What are you doing?” I asked them, “What do you think we are doing change of leader ship Dan” said Simon with a sneer.

I slammed my fist down on the old wood podium stand causing the wood to split “I built this place up from the ashes of the old abandoned church, I gathered the supplies and so what if I was wrong about what was coming look around monsters stalk the streets and hunt are people we are survivors and survivors survive.” I say.

“Look around you can’t you see that half of the fighters are gone and all of the children they came to cripple us to beat us down into submission but we will not submit and that is why I should lead that and Loren I know you want to save her Dan but you cant she is beyond saving she is the enemy if we march on them we march on them all!” Yelled Simon.
