Nadia pushes me with her, to the leaderboard. She cusses. "What," I ask. "I'm compatible."
Why is she upset?? "Nadia.." I say, "what?! Are you okay?! Nadia! nad!" Nadia gives me a look of anger. "I DONT WANT TO GET A SOULMATE!!" She screams. Everyone turns. Everyone stares at me and her."Addy, we should go," she says. I start running... running, running. I'm pretty sure that's when I trip. I mean, I do trip. And it hurts.
The roads aren't paved, because our oligarchy, who rules the Seven Nations of Ambrea, have decided to use their money on match making. Nadia has hated this system since she was seven.
"Hey, girlie, whatcha got yourself into this time," my blonde friend comes into view.
"Jake!!" I squeal.
"You and squealing?" Jake mutters, "Hey, do you and Nads want to hang out with us at the club tonight?"
"Yeah!" I say, knowing Jake has a bit of a crush on Nadia. And I might have a teensy crush on Jake. But, hey, I'm compatible, and so is Nadia. So what's some harmless flirting gonna do? Help us find our soulmates? I'm good with that!
