Demon Vice President

A black gakuran properly buttoned up all the way.

Straight black hair combed and smooth in all places, coming together at the center where bangs meet at the center in a v-shape.

A red arm band on his right reads "Public Morals Committee".

Like an invisible arrow piercing through the noisy halls of the Kabuki-chou building, students steer clear of Toushirou's path as he patrols the building, everyone intimidated by his overall appearance. He rubs the space between his brows, a habit that he had come to have after having to deal with all sorts of headaches in the hell that was Gintama High School. He stops in front of the cooking club and opens the door, like this was a regular routine he was used to.

Sure enough, he finds his superior, Kondou Isao, pestering one of the club members, Shimura Tae. He shoots the woman an apologetic glance, silently saying I'm sorry he's always like this. We're both used to it, but sorry for the trouble as always. Tae, still having Kondou in a headlock, acknowledges him with a small smile out of pity for the things he had to deal with everyday.

"Kondou-san," Hijikata calls out. That's not very moral-looking for a president of the Public Morals Committee, he thinks but doesn't voice it out. He's used to this, but he wishes the President wouldn't be such a idiot in front of everyone; it's not a good look towards the students, after all. Just another reason Toushirou's wrinkles between his brows are increasing everyday. Instead, he walks toward the pair currently engaged in a (one-sided) death match. "Let's go Kondou-san, we have a meeting with the Student Council at 1."

"Oh, Toshi!" Kondou whips around to greet him, still being suffocated by the woman above him. A vein pops in Toshi's forehead at the mention of his nickname. "Back so quickly? I was just professing my love for Otae-san here!! Ahh, to be able to gaze upon her-- ow, ow ow!" Tae rotates his arm at an odd angle, and the gorilla winces. Hijikata isn't sure if it was a wince of pain or pleasure, and he didn't want to go down that train of thought.

Toushirou watches the gorilla pair murdering each other (mostly one-sided). "Kondou-san, the girl you like will run away if you keep pursuing her so willfully."

Just as quickly, Tae drops the gorilla president and rubs her hands clean with an innocent smile uncharacteristic of someone breaking bones moments before. "Now that you're here, Hijikata-san, please take this gorilla with you. He's being a nuisance to everyone at the cooking club, so I would appreciate it if you guys left."

Hijikata glances at everyone at the cooking club watching the debacle. Aren't you just as a nuisance as our President? Everyone's scared of you!! he thinks to himself, but brushes it off. In routine, he pulls the half-conscious gori- Kondou-san and moves toward the door, saving the little shame Kondou had left. He mutters a curt sorry before sliding the door to the cooking club closed.

On paper, Kondou was the president, and Hijikata was the vice president. But really, in action and in reputation, it was Hijikata pulling the strings and with more power while Kondou served as the face of their committee. The public morals committe is in charge of upholding the peace and order of Gintama High School -- which is a feat that only few can do, considering the zoo that was their school. As far as their reputations, Kondou would be the one to face the students and make full use of his bright and honest charisma that pulled people in while Hijikata did the work behind the scenes. And things were fine like that. After all, he was already used to babysitting a gorilla back in middle school in Bushu.

"Hijikata-saaaan~"

Now what? He looks toward the hall and narrowly misses the book flying directly towards his face. He hears the click of a tongue before the man reveals himself. "Sougo!"

"Sorry about that, Sensei asked me to give you that book. I didn't think you wouldn't be able to catch it." A voice deadpanned from where the book was flying. A small blond boy, shorter than Hijikata emerged, a stack of books squeezed between his arm. Toushirou swore he heard him say something about overthrowing the Vice President position, but he ignored it.

Sougo sent another book flying, and Hijikata wasted no time catching it. "Oi, that one was definitely on purpose!"

"I don't know what you mean, Hijikata-san." He walked up to his two superiors and plopped the books down on the vice president's hands. "He asked me to tell you to bring these to the staff room while you're at it."

This brat... Hijikata thought to himself. He was definitely just pushing his own work to him so he can play hooky somewhere. "I refuse! Go do it yourself! Don't push your work to me when it's convenient--"

"Anyway, I'll go back to my patrolling so please give these to Sakata-sensei." Hijikata felt his heart skip a beat at the mention of that teacher's name. This didn't go unnoticed. "Oh my. Then I'll leave it to you, Vice President~ Don't worry I'll tell eeeeveryone you had an errand so you can play for as long as you like."

Hijikata blushed. Before he could say anything, the younger officer ran away. The only one playing hooky here is that stupid Sougo! These people honestly... I'll get old early because of these idiots.

Trying his best not to think too much about the last thing that Sougo said, he dragged Kondou to the infirmary, told the school doctor to wake him up before his board meeting at 1, and headed for the staff room with the books in hand. In the end, he was a slave to being too responsible as a student council member to leave the errand Sougo pushed onto him. Part of him wasn't too bothered about it knowing who he would be meeting at the staff room, but he tried to push that thought as far back his mind as he could. He would bring the books there, and leave as quickly as he could.
