Chapter 1

Levi awoke to the sunlight on his face, lifting himself from his blanket he got out of bed and began to dress when he was finished he walked to the river and washed his face. After that, he walked back inside to find his mother making breakfast "Buenos Dias Querido( good morning dear)" smiling he walked up to the closet and pulled out some bruised apples, and began to cut them,

(Levi pov)

after we ate breakfast I left to work, our village was very poor so it wasn't uncommon for children to have jobs, as I walked by many shops and cafe's everyone, said good morning to me the children playing or the ones sitting with their mothers smiled and waved when they saw me, waving back I continued my walk I worked in it was called la mesa and was owned by a friend of my mothers the place was absolutely beautiful the walls were painted a light turquoise color and tables and chairs neatly surrounded the place the flower pots and flowers hung from the ceiling

Sighing I walked behind the counter and was greeted by Abuela smiling at me she "Buenos Dias Levi Como Estas?" "buenos dias abuela soy buena" i said as i wiped of the counters pulling out my bag i lifted two paintings to her and she smiled "estaba a punto de preguntar acerca de la pinturas existan preciso" smiling i held them up

Smiling she told me to hang them up near the rose pots in the el Nina/Nino corner. Then at 9, we opened the shop and after a very busy day, I was honestly exhausted, after I cleaned the counters and grabbed my bag I said goodnight to Abuela and locked up. As soon as i locked the door i began to walk home it was always about a thirty-minute walk to ur house it was at the end of the village near the border but every night i could never help but stop to admire the view.

Even if theft happened every night I still loved my home, yawning slightly I began to walk down the stairs leading into the village.

Kuchel pov
I was ready I said to myself as I looked at a picture of me my husband Aldona and Levi."Bueno estar Alli pronto" I whispered to myself, sitting down I gazed at the photo, I was so focused on the picture I didn't notice Levi coming through the door "mama" I quickly jumped and turned around "oh Levi tu mi asusto" I chuckled "no tuve la intention de". (Speaking Spanish) "Levi I have something to tell you." "What is it mom? Taking a deep breath I signed "honey was crossing the border tonight". I could see Levi freeze "I want you to have a better life than this, yes I do love this village but crime rates are increasing and I need for you to stay safe, he nodded looking down come on sweetheart. I said kissing his forehead.

(Timeskip to the river)
they arrived at the border just over the river, Kuchel had kissed her son while they got on rafts to cross the both of them knew this would be dangerous when they were on the boats Kuchel took a death breath and pulled her hood on her head Levi did the same, as he rowed down the river the quiet and still night was calming Levi nerves he was enjoying it. not too long after they finally reached the Us. After climbing up the hill they walked through the streets of the city seeing patrol officers everywhere.

Levi pov
We were walking through the streets of America trying to find a safe place to hide I knew what happens to those who get caught they are immediately sent back. She said kissing my forehead there were sirens, the police had found us she gently pushed me away "Vamos"(go) she said crying turning in the opposite direction, I stepped back and turned crying "te quero mama" I cried running away.
