Lucy

Ah, the ocean. Tangibly warm and endless, but unmistakably unforgiving among its dark depths. However, with all that said, there's no doubting Camila's infatuation for it.

She absolutely loves it, she always has. From the day she started to right now, as her legs are dangling over the edge of the ship. There's a lot of things about Camila that seem to be as vast as the ocean, and that is what draws Lucy Vives to her more than anything. The hard expression on Captain Cabello's face as her eyes scrape the horizon line is compelling to the younger gunner because she knows underneath is a tenderness unlike no other.

She has to wonder, though; if sailing is her favorite thing, why does she look at the ocean with such bittersweet remorse? Lucy doesn't think she'll ever find out. Even if she could melt her way through the cold outer-shell of Camila's heart, what would she find?

Lucy watches as Camila gets up from the side deck, fixes her hat, and walks to quarter deck.

"Tonight we are crossing into stormy oceans!" Camila shouts to the crew working along the ship. Amongst their work, movements pause and faces turn toward the captain. "I want all of you out of it alive! Don't pull any funny shit on me, ye' hear?"

A noisy clamor erupts from the crowd onboard and Lucy can't help the smile that cracks across her lips. Camila has always been part of her softest affections.

The brunette waits for the noise to die back down to continue, "we, of course, cannot be sure when the storm will end, but we have Normani on wheel like always. So there's no way we won't be one step closer to getting to the cove after this!"

A loud hell yeah! stands out from the usual chatter and Lucy sees Dinah, the quartermaster of the ship, approach Camila and shake her by her shoulders. Lucy can hear the smaller girl laugh from where she's sat on a nearby crate.

"The finest captain around, I bid thee good 'morrow." Dinah bows to Camila who shoves her gently. "Getting us to the long sought over cove. What kind of booty do you think we'll find there?"

Camila laughs again, rolling her eyes. "You're a weirdo, but if you're really asking; I'm thinking the usual we get off merchant ships. But just to be the first crew to survive making it to the cove would be a dream come true." The captain harbors the last part softly within her mouth. Everyone knows how badly Camila has wanted this. "Has everyone gotten their food for the day? Because I can do water later."

"I'm really excited, too. I love beating all the other ships and their nasty-ass crew." Dinah beams, following Camila as she leaves quarter deck and makes her way down the stairs to main deck, passing by Lucy on her crate. "But yes, I got the food handed out this morning."

The captain nods politely and is about to leave when Dinah says to her, "Mani told me we are going to be passing near the Strait of Messina, so we could run into sirens."

Camila freezes in her tracks, her foot trembling above the deck where she was going to place it. Lucy watches the exchange happen from a few feet away and while she feels a little creepy about it, it is happening out in the open, so why not.

There's a certain glint of unease to Camila's eye, "Mani didn't show me sirens on the map." The captain tries to hide her nervousness by letting out a strained chuckle. "Might need to change our course."

Sawyer, an apprentice to Ally the boatswain, leans into the conversation as he is making his way up to the deck. "We're going to pass the sirens any way we go since we are trying to get there in the quickest way possible. Leah was talking about it last night before she went to bed." With one sharp glare from Camila, Sawyer scampers away like a dog with its tail between its legs.
