Ember's POV
"Let's sit in here" I said as I slid into an empty compartment.

"Okay." my friend Lee Jordan followed behind me. Together we loaded our trunks into the overhead compartment. "I still don't get why you have to ride the train." Lee said as we finally sat down. I had asked my self the same question a millionth times before I got on the Hogwarts Express. You see I'm not a normal student. Both my parents are dead, so I live with my grandpa. The one and only Dumbledore. This basically means I've lived at the school the past 6 years of my life, well only in the summer. During the regular school year, I live with Madam Rosmerta. However last year I spent the summer exploring Diagon Ally while my grandfather set up a vault for an important artifact. While I was there, I ran into Lee who I instantly became my best friend.

"You know how it is. As much as I want the tell the whole world I'm related to Dumbledore. I can't it's to 'dangerous'. Besides won't you be suspicious if some rando first year you didn't know came striding up to all the other first years, greeted McGonagall as a friend, and just jumped in line?" I sighed, and turned to look out the window. We had long since left the Kings cross station, fields of rolling green hills passed in quick blurs outside the window. "Plus, if I hadn't gotten on the train who would you have sat by." I looked over at Lee and flashed him a smile.

He smiled back at me, then asked "When do you think the trolley witch will get here?" I laughed.

"You and your stomach, Are you ever not hungry?"

"A body like this need a lot of fuel you know." And with that he flexed his muscles making me laugh even more.

~*~*~*~

"We're getting close. I'm going to change into my robes. Leave." I pointed to the door.

"Rude, You could have at least said please." Lee said as he got up. I rolled my eyes and went to grab my robes. Turing around I saw Lee was still there.

"Please."

"Please what?"

"Please leave."

"Okay." And with that Lee left and closed the door behind him. I quickly looked around and went to close the blinds when a girl around my age came into the compartment.

"Hi, I was wondering if it was okay if I change into my robes in here. The compartment I was in earlier was only guys." The girl was tall, well at least taller than me, with short black hair which made the green speckles in her hazel eyes stand out.

"Sure." I said and finished closing the blinds.

"Thanks. I'm Lucy. Lucy Weathercrest."

"Ember Dore." We shook hands then began to change into our robes. "So what year are you in?" I ask as I sit down.

"I'm a first year. How about you?" Lucy sat down across from me, seeming in no rush to return to her prior compartment.

"Same." Smiles spread across both of our faces as we knew this was the beginning to an amazing friendship. "What house do you think you'll be in?"

"Well my Mum was a Ravenclaw and my Dad was in Slytherin. Everyone says ill follow after my dad, well academically, but I think I might be a Hufflepuff though."

"Hufflepuff would be nice. My mom was a Slytherin and my Dad was a Gryffindor. I think I have the makings of a Gryffindor but.."

"Don't believe her she's gonna be in Slytherin." Lee says standing in the doorway. I roll my eyes and introduce Lee to Lucy.

"Lucy this is Lee" I point from Lucy to Lee, then from Lee to Lucy. "And Lee this is Lucy."

"Hello." Lee says throwing himself down on the bench next to me.

"Hi." Lucy tucks a stray piece of her black hair that had escaped from behind her ear.

Flashing Lucy one of his dazzling smiles, Lee looked over the girl then asked, "What's a pretty girl like you doing hanging out with this lameo." I roll my eyes.

"Shove off Lee, your gonna scare away the one normal friend I have." I look over at Lucy making sure it was ok to call her my friend. She smiled giving me the answer to my unasked question.

"What?!?! I'[m normal." Lee defends as Lucy and I laugh at him. Our conversation soon  turns to quidditch and the two started talking about their favorite teams. However, the conversation was cut short when the train starts to slow down.

"Well I better head back to my compartment." Lucy waved as she stood up and walked away down the train. "See y'all in the great hall."

"Bye Lucy" Lee and I called after the girl.

"I like her." Lee says as he drags his luggage down from the overhead compartment.

"So do I." And with that Lee and I walked off the train and toward Hagrid, and our new home.
