(lets just pretend the corona doesn't exist okay 😍 but my school is out for 1 month so i have more time to write )y/n pov
italyi was so excited to get off the plane that i kept fidgeting around.
"calm down babe," mattia says putting his on my thigh.
i couldn't contain my excitement and wanted to get off as soon as possible. once the plane stopped, i got up immediately and grabbed my suitcase.
mattia's grandparents' house
"i'm nervous," i confess.
"why?" he asks.
"what if your grandparents don't like me." i frown.
"don't be ridiculous, they're going to love you," mattia assures me.
his grandma open the door.
"mattia," his grandma shouts, "it's so good to see you."
she gives him a tight hug and then turns to me.
"you must be y/n, hi i'm Rose," his grandma introduces herself and gives me a hug.
"it's really nice to meet you." i smile.
"well we're having a welcome party for you guys tonight," rose tells us. "go get ready."
"oh you didn't have to," mattia's mom says.
"of course we did," she replies.
we all go into the house and settle in.
mattia and i had to share a room and his parents shared one. when we head back downstairs i saw a girl around our age go up and hug mattia. she had light brown hair and light brown eyes.
"mattia i've missed you so much," she exclaims.
i feel a little bit uneasy and look down on the floor.
"y/n this is a family friend, julia," mattia tells me. "julia this is y/n, my girlfriend."
"oh.. i didn't know you had a girlfriend.." she says. "you brought her to italy with you?"
"yeah i invited her," mattia's mom says walking down the stairs.
julia gives an uncomfortable nod and walks away.
"so whats her problem?" i ask mattia.
"she's always had a crush on me, but i can't do anything about it," he says. "she's like family and we've known each other since we were babies."
"does she still like you?" i ask, folding my arms.
"i think so.. but you don't have anything to worry about," mattia says quickly. " i only have eyes for you."
"as you should.." mattia's mom mumbles.
party
i introduced myself to all of mattia's family members and they all seemed really nice. mattia's mom never really left my side so i can feel better and i honestly love her for that.
when i enter the living room i saw julia sitting next to mattia all up on him. i roll my eyes.
"you don't have to worry about her," mattia's mom says.
"i know but i feel like i can't compete," i confess.
"honey, why would you think that?"
"i mean look at her— she's beautiful, she's known mattia since forever, and everyone here already loves her."
"but you're the one dating mattia," mattia's mom reminds me. "and i want you to be my daughter in law. not her."
a smile forms on my face as she says the word "daughter in law". "you really think mattia and i are gonna last that long?" i ask.
"if you dont, i'll never forgive mattia for it." she says taking my hand.
she made me feel 10x better but my mood got worse when i saw julia kiss mattia near his lips.
i frown. "i think i'm gonna go get some fresh air." i walk out the house and head to the front.
the cool air brushes my body and i see a nearby town. it looked really interesting and i couldn't help but explore it.
i saw a little cafe with italian pastries and knew i had to go in.
"hi can i have a cannoli please?" i ask the waiter.
"coming right up."
when the waiter walks away i look down at the table and start thinking.
"trouble?" i hear a voice say.
i look up and saw the guy from the starbucks airport.
"i didn't know you were in italy too," i say. "i never caught your name."
"it's hector, and yours ?"
"i'm y/n, nice to see you again," i say pleasantly.
he takes a seat in front of me. "what's wrong?"
"i don't wanna bother you with my problems." i chuckle.
"i have time," he says and smiles.
i sigh. "i came here to meet my boyfriend's family but i didn't know there'd be another girl in the way," i tell him.
"well how is she in the way?" hector asks.
"she keeps touching him and trying to kiss him," i inform him. "my boyfriend told me not worry about it yet but he's not doing anything. he's just letting it happen."
"you'd have to be an idiot to choose another girl over you." hector smiles.
i blush. "i just don't wanna deal with her for a week. i can't compete with her."
"if he truly loves you, he'll do what makes you feel comfortable and tell her off."
"that's the thing, i don't know if he loves me," i say quietly.
"do you love him?"
i nod. "i do."
"then you have to tell him that first," hector advises.
"and what if he doesn't love me? i'll be stuck in italy with him— it'll be awkward."
"tell him when the time is right, go on a date. there's a lot of beautiful places here in italy," hector informs me.
"you're right, thank you," i tell him.
mattia's pov
julia tried to kiss me on the lips but i lightly dodged it. i look up and saw y/n frown before she walked out the door."julia, why would you do that?" i ask, standing up.
"leave her, she needs to cool off," julia says.
"no, i'm going after her," i argue.
julia grabs my wrist. "you're going to piss her off even more, trust me, i know girls. give her space."
i sigh and look at the door.
