Climax action - SCENE 1
(Play takes place in James's house. James just got return to his home after doing grocery shopping with Amanda. He was resting at home and almost wanted to close his eyes to take a nap when suddenly his phone rings.)
James took out his phone out from his pocket and look at the dialer name.
James: Why is mum calling me at this time?
Sighing, he accepts the call.
James: Hello mum, what do you need? (sighing tone)
Grace: James dear I have a very good news for you! (excited tone)
James: What about it?
Grace: You know the beautiful childhood friend of yours Sarah right?
James: Yeah what about her?
Grace: I proposed her for you! (excited tone)
James: WHAT! (shouting tone)
Grace: Oh my god James stop shouting you're going to make mum's ear bleed
James: Are you kidding me mum? I dont even like her mum! (angry tone)
Grace: Now that is not the way my son behaves is it? (dissapointed tone)
James: I know mum but please Sarah is just a childhood friend of mine
Grace: Isn't it better? You and her know each other very well
James: I will think about it but dont get your hopes up mum im sure you might be dissapointed
Grace: (smiling gleefully) I will son but please get to know her okay?
James: I will.
James ended the call. He then receives notification from his mum containing Sarah's phone number
James: Amanda what do I do now? (he closes his eyes as he tries to take a nap)
SETTING 1 (In a cafe)
Amanda: Babe what do you want to eat? (she scans the menu)
James: I dont know, whatever is up to you (smiling)
Amanda: You're no fun (pouting)
James: Okay okay i will take Grilled chicken chop okay (laughing)
Amanda: Okay, waitress (signals rhe waitress to come)
Amanda then tell the waitress what they want to eat.Amanda and James was laughing and enjoying each other companu without even noticing there was someone witnessing the scene.
Sarah was there, at the cafe but Amanda and James did not noticed her presence as she was far from their seat. Sarah gripped the napkin on the table as her heart was torn to pieces when she witness the scene in front of her.
Sarah quickly make a call to James's mother, Grace.
In a phone call
Sarah:Auntie what is the meaning of this? James have another woman!
Grace: Where are you? (shocked)
Sarah: At a cafe, James and Amanda are being a lovey dovey couple here!
Grace: Dont worry my dear i will break their relationship soon enough
Sarah: You better be auntie or I would reject the proposal!
Sarah quickly ends the call as her tears of anger and dissapointment running on her cheeks.
Sarah then quickly leaves the cafe without James and Amanda noticing her.
James and Amanda was still playing with each other as James's phone rings.
James:What is it mum?
Grace: You really done it this time James, i told you to try and get to know Sarah but here you are going out with another woman! (angry tone)
James: So what? It is my life mum dont bother about it! (annoyed tone)
Grace: You are going to bethroted to Sarah and this is what you did?
James: Mum i have never said i agree to it, i just said i might think about it! (risen his voice)
Grace: I am your mother James! How dare you talk to you mum like that!?
James: (pinches his forehead in frustration) Fine im sorry but dont expect me to end this relationship!
James ended the call quickly as Amanda look at her worryingly.
Amanda: James are you okay?
James: Yeah im okay, can we get off from here quickly?
Amanda: Sure
SCENE 2 (In a cafe)
James: Lucy thank you coming here despite your hectic schedule
Lucy: Sure James what's wrong?
James: You know my mum? She bethrothed me to Sarah without me knowing it
Lucy: Oh my, so what now?
James: How do i escape this problem Lucy? You know just how much I love Amanda
Lucy: (thinking deeply) Im sure theres a way but it is probably something crazy to do.
James: What do you mean?
Lucy: Marry her before your family knows
James: Amanda is such an obedient child, she will never do that
Lucy: That will be hard, but the best thing is try to talk to you mum, coax her sweet words so she can understands what you needed
James: I will try, thank you Lucy
Lucy: Youre welcome (smiles)
