Why do they want to kill me?!
Just because I have the Evol gene related to precognition?!
That explains the 2 car accidents and the dream that really occured in reality.
It suddenly dawned on me that Dad must've produced Miracle Finder to get a better understanding of superpowers and also to let me know that Evolvers and normal people aren't any different. Both feel joy and sorrow and also pursue their own happiness.
Looking through his notebook, with this new perspective, I noticed many things that previously didn't attract my attention.
While flipping through the notebook, a photo slipped out. It was a photo of Twin Leaves Orphanage.
Where is this place?
It feels familiar somehow...
I took the photo and I pinned it on my note board, not knowing if it carries any importance.
While doing so, I noticed the gingko bracelet hanging around my wrist and can't help but think back to what happened a few hours ago...
After leaving LFG and leaving a reply comment on Kiro's post, I found myself in a deserted alley just like the one in my dream. The man, who was involved in all the space folding incidents, drew out a dagger and threatened to kill me.
Fortunately, Gavin appeared just in time and used his wind power to fly me into his arms, pulling me out of danger, into a warm embrace. The killer was finally caught.
Surprisingly, Gavin knew Victor when they were kids but his expression revealed great distaste, like he really didn't like knowing Victor.
I think I can sympathise with that since Victor feels really high and mighty.
Thinking of Victor, I recalled seeing Chik leaving his office with slightly disheveled collar and lipstick. When I entered Victor's office, I could see that his tie was loosened too.
"There is nothing between her and me." Victor explained when he seemed to understand what I was thinking.
Are you sure? But it seemed otherwise...
Going back to my real purpose of meeting Victor, I presented the report that would make him regret. Victor seemed impressed that I produced that feature for City News. He didn't expect that even at the edge of bankruptcy, I could still talk collaboration with a TV station.
Then, he asked me a really ambitious question - how long will it take to monopolise film and TV production from the 4 major TV stations if he invested in me.
Thinking of the shortest and most realistic duration, I replied, "Five years."
"Too slow."
What?! Then how long would you want it to take? Two years?!
"Two years."
Are you serious?! I know you set up LFG and became a legend in 8 years but do you think I am like you?
"Three... and a half years." I stuttered.
Just then, Victor picked up the phone.
"Wait! Two years... two years!"
"Good. To our partnership, then!"
I feel like strangling you...
Besides learning that Gavin knew Victor, I learned that Gavin wasn't an ordinary cop but an Evol special agent and an Evolver. He knew that enemies were targeting me and that was why he got the assignment from Loveland TV - to protect me.
"You asked how I knew you were in danger. As long as you're in the wind, I can feel you." that was what Gavin said as he made the rose petals dance in the air, just like the way the gingko leaves did in my memory.
Were you the one who made the gingko leaves fly outside the piano room back in high school?
The gingko chain on my wrist glittered warmly, seemingly agreeing that it was you.
Ahh!!! Kiro followed me!!! I just got a message from Kiki, telling me that I was famous. I was confused at first but when I opened my social media, I knew what she meant.
This is just unbelievable!
"Found you, Miss Chips." Kiro messaged.
So, I'm known as Miss Chips now, huh?
I like it! :)
