Natalie was laying in the field of the park. She was alone, and quite depressed. Normally when Natalie came to the park the scenery and the laughter of children helped calm her nerves. Sadly, nothing was able to help her. Not even her poetry helped. Natalie sighed and sat up. Twiddling her thumbs, a black haired boy came over and pulled a ear bud out of Natalie’s ear and put it in his.
“Ahh.. the Blues.” The mystery boy was quite attractive. He looked about 6 foot, in his older teenage years, and had beautiful blue eyes. “Ever heard of GOOD music?” He sat down beside Natalie and handed her the ear bud. “Like, All Time Low, 5 Seconds of Summer, Greenday, Blink 182?” Natalie cut him off before he could continue.
“ I like my music, thank you very much. I was not expecting some random guy come and judge my playlist.” Natalie, being shy as normal, said this in a mumble and didn’t make eye contact.
“ What’s your name?” The attractive boy asked.
“Natalie.” She whispered in response.
“ahh.. Natalie. Nice name.” He complimented.
“Do I get the pleasure of knowing yours?”
“Nope.” He grabbed my poetry book and read off a love poem. “This is some pretty mushy stuff isn’t it?” He set the book down.
“Well, I suppose I am a pretty ‘Mushy’ person, Aye?” Natalie looked up at the young man, and smiled slightly still shy.
He laughed and pushed me playfully. “yeah, I guess.” He got up. “See ya around?” He said more of a question then a statement.
Natalie shrugged, wanting to see him again. “Yes. Hopefully.” He handed her a card.
“Come to this address tonight. My band is having a concert.” She took it reluctantly and put it in her flowered wallet.
“ I will try.”…
That night Natalie got dressed in a cute sweetheart neckline dress. It reached right above her knees, and had cute pink flowers on it. She put her hair in a French braid and outlined her eyes with eyeliner and painted her eye lashes with mascara. It wasn’t a normal routine for her to wear makeup but considering she is going to a concert she thought she could make a acceptation.
She pulled into the driveway of the mystery boy’s driveway and stepped out taking a deep breath before walking to the door. Natalie knocked, and mumbled nonsense to herself.
A cute blonde answered the door. He was wearing square framed glasses. He was leaning against the doorframe admiring me.
“Hey cutie.” He smiled.
“H-hey.. is Owen here?” Natalie pushed by him, and felt him catch her arm and push her against the wall.
“Why don’t we forget about Owen and think about what we could be doing in that room right there.” His green eyes were hypnotizing. Natalie gave in and pressed her lips to his and kissed him deeply.
“Really Jeremy? How do you think Ronnie is going to feel about this?” I heard the young mans voice before the other attractive boy, Jeremy, pulled away and released me.
“What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him, Owey.” Jeremy giggled and walked over to his friend.
“Yeah, well…”
“What’s going on?” Natalie butted in confused.
“Jeremy here, is gay, and dating our bassist, Ronnie.”
“Oh my god.” Natalie began, “I am soooo sorry! I didn’t know. He threw himself at me.” Natalie rushed out the words nervously.
“No, it’s okay Nattie. You didn’t know. Also, he didn’t make it known.” He shoved Jeremy against the wall using his shoulder.
“Whatever, Owen.” Jeremy said, rubbing his shoulder. “That hurt.” He had a girly voice and giggled lightly.
“Well, when is this concert of yours?” Natalie looked at them both, expecting one to be listening and respond.
“Hour.” Jeremy responded looking at his watch.…
People started to arrive. Them all in black and very loud. Natalie didn’t feel like she fit in. She didn’t like loud music. She was perfectly fine with mellow Blues and Jazz music. Jeremy led her into the basement so she could get a good placement for the concert.
“Thanks Jer.” Natalie smiled at Jeremy and watched him get onstage. Owen revealed himself from behind the curtain. He was wearing black skinny jeans holes in the knees, gray vans, white T-shirt, and a leather jacket over top of it. His hair was spiked up in the front reveling his beautiful eyes that caught the spotlight perfectly.
Finally, the music started. It was loud, but Natalie didn’t find herself disliking it. Everyone was hang banging and stomping. All Natalie did was tap her foot, her arms crossed over her chest. Owen didn’t look away once. Owen was hypnotized by how Natalie looked in the lights. Her black hair glistened, her eyes looking more exotic then in the natural lights. Her dress flattering her figure. It hugging her curves just perfectly. Owen couldn’t help but stare at her. He never saw someone as beautiful as her. It’s not that he never dated someone, but no one made him feel the way she did. Owen loved how quiet she was but still had nerve.
After the show, Owen hopped off stage and came over too Natalie.
“Kind of wish you were my first kiss, then a gay guy.” Natalie chuckled and looked up at Owen with those big brown eyes of hers.
“Glad he gave it to you instead of me though. Now I don’t feel like I have to make it perfect.” Owen laughed under his breath.
Natalie buries her head in Owens chest and pecks it softly. “Yeah. Well, you could still top it off.” Natalie blushes and looks up at Owen.
Owen leaned down and couldn’t contain himself anymore. Owen sets his hands on Natalie’s hips and gently kisses her. Natalie wraps her arms around his neck, leaning into the kiss.
Everyone around them starts to oohh and awe. They slowly split apart and Owen looks down at Natalie, her cheeks rosy red.
“T-thanks.” Natalie said softly.
Owen chuckles. “No need to thank me, Love.”
…
It has been a year since Natalie has seen or heard from Owen. It wasn’t surprising really, Owen didn’t seem like the type of guy to call after a kiss. It’s not like Natalie thought he honestly liked her.
She has been replaying the scenes over and over in her mind over the last year, and there was no sighs of him actually liking her.
She was sitting on a park bench on a winter day. Natalie was wearing black leggings that fit her perfectly, extenuating her curves. She has Ugg boots on, and a white undershirt with a gray cardigan. Her black curly hair was in a flawless waterfall braid.
Like ever day, she was enjoying a poetry book with her ear buds in listening to jazz music. The snow not bothering her a bit. She liked this season, Winter. It calmed her. The beautiful white snow covering the ground covering the grass and pathways.
Suddenly, Natalie felt my ear bud come out of my ear. “Ahhh… Jazz.” Natalie looked up and saw Owen.
“W-what are y-you doing here?” Natalie stammered.
“ The band just got off tour.” Owen stated.
“That’s a lame excuse for being gone for a year.” Natalie said getting up angrily. It is not like Natalie’s actually upset. She’s more hurt then anything. Natalie doesn’t quite understand why he hasn’t called, or made any effort to have some contact.
“Well, I am sorry Natalie. You’re the one who left the party without giving me some way to contact you. I didn’t think you wanted to see me again!” Owen said.
“ Why wouldn’t I?! I liked you, a lot, Owen. To be honest, I am surprised that you didn’t notice. I dressed up, got all pretty for you, but you were to oblivious to my hints.” Natalie turned around and stomped away.
“NATALIE!!!” Owen called behind her.
“GO AWAY!” Natalie screamed.
“ Natalie knock it off. I’m sorry okay? But, it’s not only my fault. You didn’t make an effort to see me.” Owen said, as he fast walked over to Natalie.
Natalie whipped around. “Darn it Owen! I am sorry. I’m sorry that I am shy. I’m sorry that I was afraid that if I fell for anyone I would sooner or later get hurt. I am sorry alright?” Natalie started to tear up.
“ N-nat…” Owen spoke softly, and opened his arms. Natalie slowly walked over to Owen and buried her head in his chest.
“I missed you, Owen.” Natalie mumbled into Owens muscular chest.
“I missed you too, Natalie.”
Want to go for a walk?” Natalie asks, looking up at Owen.
“Of course.” Owen responded.
Natalie nodded and took his hand interlacing their fingers together.
“How was your band tour?” Natalie asks walking down the pathway through the woods.
The woods were not walked in often. The snow only has a few foot prints but not enough to ruin the scenery.
Owen shrugs. “It was good I guess. We sang a few songs at each concert. It wasn’t impressive or anything. People enjoyed it.” Owen seemed to be holding something back.
“Are you alright, Owen?” Natalie asked.
“yep! I’m fine. Just missed you that’s all.” He bent down and kissed Natalie on the nose.
“I missed you too Owen.” Natalie smiled wide.
“What did you do when I was gone?” Owen asks.
“Well, I have been performing more. Going to different Cafés and restaurants, those types of things. There not huge gigs, but there better than nothing, I suppose.” Natalie explains.
“Oh! Well, I’m happy for you.” Owen says softly. “Wow. It’s beautiful.” He whispers. It started snowing lightly. Natalie looks up catches a snowflake with her tongue it melting immediately.
Owen chuckles softly, and catches a snowflake in her hands.
“this is the best December ever.” Natalie said, as she gets up on her tippy toes and kisses Owen softly.
“forever?” Owen asked.
“And always.” Natalie finished.
…
Natalie sat up, shaking, and slowly walk onto the stage. She saw her harp sitting there, and gained some confidence. She sat down and slowly ran her hands over the strings making sure they are in tune. She guides her hands over it playing a song she made up as she went. She got lost into the music and closed her eyes. It seemed like only seconds till her song was over, and Natalie opened her eyes and saw Owen at the bottom of the stage smiling wide. Natalie walked down the stairs, and collapsed into his arms.
“you did great. Don’t worry.” Owen held her close to his chest and soothed her.
“Y-yeah! I feel great.” Natalie stammered.
“come on. I have a surprise.”
…
Owen and Natalie were walking down the streets. Only twist, Owen blindfolded her.
“Where are we going?” Natalie giggled feeling the snowflakes dropping onto her hair.
“a secret place.” Owen laughed.
“ugh! Your so stubborn.” Natalie laughed and turned around kissing what she thought was his lips.
“that, my love. Was my chin.” He chuckled and kissed her softly. Natalie blushes and bent her head down, and turned around.
“Well, hurry up before I get impatient.” Natalie whispered.
After about 10 minutes of walking blindfolded, Natalie got tired of it. “Are we here?” She asked.
“yes, finally. Now, we are here.” Owen sat her down on a blanket and untied the blindfold reveling a beautiful snow covered field.
“wow.” Natalie said speechless. “I-it’s beautiful.” Natalie managed to get out.
“come here.” Owen was laying down on the blanket and had his arms open. Natalie slowly crawled over to him. “Natalie?” Owen spoke softly.
“Yes, Owen?” She looked up at him, Natalie’s hand on his lower stomach.
“I love you.” Owen kissed her cheek.
“I know.” Natalie was to afraid to say it back. Every time she fell for someone they always rejected her. Natalie was different, and she knows it. Natalie wasn’t blonde. She has black curly hair down to her lower back and strange exotic eyes. There dark brown with golden specks around her pupil and a shade of light brown outlining. Natalie is quiet, straight forward, a reader and she adores writing. She is 17 years old but because she is so smart, she finished high school early and is now doing online collage courses. Natalie is curvy, and not super skinny like every girl strives to be. She doesn’t care what people think, and that’s what makes Owen love Natalie more.
Owen nodded at her short response and Natalie started tracing patterns on his clothed chest.
‘ I love you too.’ Natalie traced on his chest. Owen didn’t follow her lettering and was clueless to what she wrote.
…
A few days later, Natalie and Owen were sitting down at a restaurant. Natalie was dressed In a long sleeved blue dress. It was glittery and reached her ankles. It was a V neck, so Natalie wore a heart shaped locket. Her hair was in a flawless up dew that shaped her face perfectly.
Owen sat across from her and admired her beauty. He never met someone so beautiful. Yes, there were ‘Pretty’ girls, but none of them reached his expectations. They all tried to hard. Owen was lucky to have met Natalie.
“So?” Natalie broke the awkward silence as she traced her finger around the lip of the wine glass.
Owen chuckled lightly. “Just wanted a proper date.” He continues looking at her and suddenly Natalie felt self conscious.
“What are you looking at?” Natalie begins to fiddle with her necklace.
“Your so beautiful.” Owen spoke lovingly.
Natalie laughs without much humor. “No, I’m not.” Natalie bites her lip.
Owen just shakes his head and looks down at his plate. “Why don’t you accept your beauty?”
“Because, it’s not there.” Natalie was tired of this conversation. “Let’s just, not argue. Okay?”
Owen nodded and took a sip of his wine.
“is that ours?” Owen nods towards a man with two plates.
“I hope so, I’m starving.” Natalie laughs.
The waiter brings the food to our table. “Enjoy.” He smiled at us, and walked away before waiting another table.
“Owen, I don’t know a thing about you. Tell me about you.”
“You know I am madly in love with you. Isn’t that enough?” Owen looks down and plays with his peas.
“How do I know you’re not some serial killer that uses your charm to bring girls in and then kills them?”
“Trust.” Owen says uncomfortably.
“Honestly, what is it about your past, you don’t want to tell!” Natalie says uneasily.
“I just don’t like talking about it!!” Owen stands up abruptly knocking his wine over.
“Sit down.” Natalie says through clenched teeth. “No need to make a scene.”
“Fuck you.” Owen says quietly before walking out.
“Owen.” Natalie calls after him. “Dammit.” She mumbles. Natalie grabs a handful of money, and tosses it down on the table before running after him. “Owen, stop please?” Owen was a few paces ahead of Natalie. Natalie grabs his wrist. “Knock it off. I’m sorry okay? I just want to know about you. What if I want to buy you a birthday present? How do I know what you would like?”
“you will learn about me the longer you are with me. You just don’t need to KNOW me.” Owen says stubbornly.
“Okay. I’m sorry.” Natalie responds sadly, looking at her shoes.
“It’s okay. I’m sorry I reacted that way.” Owen opens his arms, and holds Natalie carefully. “let’s go. I should probably take you home.”…
