Our eyes met across the room.

I'd noticed him earlier when he'd come in with Callum, I was talking to someone at the time, a boring conversation with a boring person. I heard the music change to Love My Way by The Psychedelic Furs and basically sprinted to Cora, my best friend. This was our song, as cheesy as it sounds, but we bonded over music and this was one of our all time favourites. She was avidly talking to Josh about a new film she'd seen, I felt bad interrupting their conversation because Cora has been in love with Josh for as long as I can remember, but I couldn't dance to the song without her, it would be morally wrong.

We were dancing our heart out and that's when we'd caught eyes, Callum had introduced me to him but I was too flustered to hear anything he was saying properly, I'd hugged Callum and then turned to him and I was... mesmerised. His eyes were emerald green, an intense gaze that you couldn't pull away from, he was captivating. When he looked at you it was as though you were the only person in the room, in the world. His hair was a dark chocolate brown that curled at the ends, falling loosely down his forehead. His face was chiseled, with sharp features that gave him an intimidating look, but when he smiled dimples appeared on his cheeks and his eyes seemed to sparkle. He was, to put it simply - beautiful.

As our eyes met I stopped dancing without realising and Cora bumped into me.
"You alright hun?" She laughed as she attempted to moonwalk.
"I'm just going to get another drink!" I shouted over the loud music.
"Get me a desperado!!" She replied as I headed to the kitchen.

My head was pounding from the music and I felt dizzy, I hadn't eaten all day apart from the few macarons Cora had brought back from the bakery she worked at, the drinks had gone straight to my head.
I opened the glass door to the balcony and stepped outside, welcoming the cool rush of air around me. I leant over the railing and closed my eyes breathing deeply. After my head had quietened down from the music I opened my eyes and looked out to the city.

Josh's apartment was right in the centre of Paris, practically in front of the Eiffel Tower, the glittering lights cast a warm glow around me, as though I were in a golden dream. Mine and Cora's apartment was a bus ride away, on the outskirts of the city, the centre was much too expensive for a 19 year old working in a bakery and another 19 year old studying Computer Science at PSL, we could barely make the rent but we managed and loved every moment of it.

Paris was like home to me, I'd spent most of my summers here growing up staying with my grandmother in her small but lovely house in Versailles, we used to roam the gardens and have long walks along the Seine. She passed away shortly after I'd turned 18 from an ongoing illness, it was a surprise when a few months later I received a letter saying she had left me some money for "where I belonged". My grandmother always knew that I dreamed of living in New York working as an actor, so I decided that I would put all the money away and earn enough to move while I was living in Paris, promising myself I wouldn't touch a penny of it, no matter how much I needed it.

I stared at the golden Tower until my vision became blurred and unfocused as I was lost in thought. I didn't notice him come out and step beside me until I heard the click of a lighter and the dull fire orange glow in the corner of my eye. I turned my head as he moved beside me and leant on the railing too, taking a drag of his cigarette. I was aware of how close he was to me, so close I could feel his body heat radiating through his lilac sweater.
"You're Olly right?" He asked me with a deep British accent, turning his head so that I could properly see his face, he was even more beautiful up close.
"Yeah I am, sorry I didn't quite catch your name earlier" I replied looking into his eyes.
He put out his hand and I shook it, taking much too long to let go, "I'm Harry" he said and smiled before taking another drag of his cigarette. I felt dizzy and smiled back at him. I tried to focus my attention back to the city in front of me but it was of no use... I couldn't stop staring at his soft, pink lips, imagining how they would feel on mine.
