the vmas were finally here and the girls were excited. heavy hours of practice were over and no longer were they slaves to the stage expect for tonight.
everyone was awake, they have been since 6am, running around their neighborhood, getting their last workout in before the award show.
jackie doesn't allow practice on the last day, she rather the girls meditate and focus on their inner self, instead of physical.
so for now, she made their sweat it out before diffusing all the tiring energy into hours of relaxation.
"who shot ya? who knocked ya? point em' out let em' know im comin' fa em'."
the girls sing as they push against the wind, running their third lap around the neighborhood.
jackie made sure her girls could do a whole damn obstacle course and still hold a note while looking good, so she made them sing and run at the same time, as well as exercising and singing.
"STOP!" jackie blows her whistle. "lani, you're flat- you can't be flat."
"but im a rapper-" she defends.
"and you're flat- RUN IT AGAIN!" jackie stresses. no one could be flat, not today.
after a few minutes, the girls finish and run back home. they enter they're home, with labored breathing and rush into the kitchen to find themselves water.
"uh uh- not too fast." jackie stops them. "we're out of chia seeds."
they groan. "mom, please let us just drink something." tori pouts. jackie sighs.
"fine, but ima need y'all to run to the store for me and buy more of them seeds, okay?" she tells them. the girls nods and head out to the garage.
once the girls get into the car, with tori in the drivers seat and kehlani right next to her, they all begin to giggle- seriously.
"i can't believe jackie is actually letting us out right now." ashlyn smiles. "it's almost unreal."
"i know right! but i better start moving before she changes her mind." tori says then leaving their home.
half an hour later...
tori pov
"where the hell are these seeds?" i whisper to myself looking through every aisle. the girls and i decided to split up so we could find the seeds faster and head home.
"you looking for these?" a familiar voice speaks behinds me.
immediately knowing who it is, i turn around and run to the raspy tone individual.
"roddy." i hug onto him tight. "i fucking missed you so much." he holds me close and pecks my cheek.
"me too boo. got a nigga writing about you." he says with a chuckle. i laugh as well. "you look good."
i blush instantly, checking my own outfit out.
"thanks-" i try to say, but he cuts my words.
"and look, you got the ice on too- my bae is straight drippin, my nigga- look at ya." he continues to praise me and hype me up.
"okay STAWPP- you making me blush." i tell him causing him to laugh.
"nah but fr, what's up witcha?" he asks me. i sigh, remembering the hard time without him.
"life's been fucking hell." i boldly say erupting laughter from the both of us. "for a month, i just wanted to see you and i couldn't. she made me delete your number, unfollow you- just everything with you in it."
he just nods his head. "that's fucked up." i agree. "really thought you gave up onna us doe." i shake my head.
"never. i like you a lot...." i confess putting my head down.
fuck... fuck... fuck. why did i just say that.
roddy and i never really talked about our feelings much, we'd just call each other pet names and hang out, almost like friends, so this was a whole new step.
"i like you too." he replies with a smile. we stand in silence before he cuts it. "i wish we could chill more, but i know how ya mom gets- especially after what happened, that shit was crazy." he explains. i roll my eyes thinking about the incident.
"yeah, she'd kill me if she knew i was here talking to you right now. mean, we can try." i say. "just a little bit of an effort, y'know." with that, he grabs my hands letting our fingers intertwine.
we don't much for a minute until my phone begins to ring. i groan, letting go of his hand to pick up the call.
"hello." i speak.
"are you guys almost done?" my mother ask. i roll my eyes.
"yes, mom. i just found them." i tell her. she sighs.
"alright don't take too long now and also buy me them ginger candy thingys- you know what im talking bout." she tries describing a brand.
"yes, mom."
"okay luv you bye." we end the phone and i look back at roddy.
"okay i gotta go find the others girls, so ill see you tonight?" i ask. he shrugs.
"nahh i got a concert tonight in los angelos." i roll my eyes and pout.
"aww dang it... okay then ill see you whenever i guess." i say before giving him one last hug.
"don't be sad, girl, ima see you... friday, my house @8." he tells almost like we planned this. i puzzle at his words.
"roderick..." i call him, but he beats me to it.
"my house tomorrow at @8, alright?" he clarified. being hesitant i first, i shake my worries off.
my confused expression gradually turns into a smirk.
"cool." i say before walking past him.
