C A S I

When I heard Zach's feet descend down our staircase, I rushed into the bathroom and changed into my flannel pjs, that were my dad's. I think covering up will be good-for Zach's sake.

I heard the whole conversation that went between my dad and Zach. It took so much self control not to burst out laughing and blow my cover. But, I like pretending.

I slipped off my pj shorts and tank top. I shoved on the flannel pants, but then got distracted, by a text Grace sent me.

GRACEEBOO: um parents kicked me out going to live with Kael. They wanted me to abort the baby when it was time or something like that but I refused.

BUTTHENWEPAUSED: Damn, Grace I'm sorry.

Before I could see Grace's reply, I heard Zach exclaim, and the door swing open.

"Casi?" He asked.

I dragged my eyes from my phone, unseeing and seeing at the same time.

COULD THE GROUND PLEASE SUCK ME UP NOW?

(A/N ohmygosh. Sick thought has entered my brain. Stared at the sentence for five minutes trying not to laugh out loud)

I could feel my cheeks go crimson.

Zach stood back and started blushing.

"I, um, sorry Casi." He started.

I rolled my eyes, and slammed the door.

"Zach?" I asked as I put on a shirt.

"Yeah Casi?" He asked through the door.

"Are we staying home?" I asked, my voice echoing in my bathroom. I reached for the door knob.

"Yeah. Are you coming out or...?" I heard him ask.

I pulled the doorknob and see a blushing Zach.
"Sorry about that Angel. Really." Zach said, grabbing my wrists and staring into my eyes.

I see the intensity and shivered.

"Guys y'all are cute and everything but Mia's coming up to wake up Casi and I need Zach to hide - and Casi- act like you're sick." My dad's voice jolted us out of our random staring contest.

I felt the cold slap of fear and reality. Fear- because my mother is a fast walker in heels, even going up the stairs, and reality, as in Zach already has children, and maybe he doesn't want more, or he doesn't want to confuse his children so I'm probably just a day thing. He is after all, the bad boy.

So I rushed into bed, while watching Zach open my bathroom door and close it lightly.

"John, darling, why isn't Cassandra up yet? Is she ill?" My mother's voice asked, her clack of her heels muffled by my dark carpet.

"Yes Mia. Our Casi hasn't been feeling well lately." Dad said, walking into the room with my mother.

"Is she pregnant? She's looking quite fat." My mother asked, grabbing at the blankets.

"No I'm not pregnant, what's wrong with you?!" I groaned, making sure my voice sounds scratchy. Even, out of me and Cari, she's the one most likely going to be a teenaged mom that leaves her kid at home- just to go to the parties. I added silently in my head.

"Oh you sound horrible Cassandra! You'd better stay home. You want Cari to take care of you?" My mom said, looking down at me snidely.

"I don't want Cari to take care of me, mother. It's just a headache and a cold." I shrugged, still making it sound scratchy.

My mother frowned.

"Mia, it's late already, why don't you head off to work? I'll take care of Casi before I go into my study. Don't want to keep her awake for long, we need to get that sickness all healed up for their birthdays!" Dad said, practically shoving mom out of the room.

Thank you dad! I thanked my dad silently. I heard the front door slam, and I open my bathroom door, and see Zach sleeping in the bathtub.

What am I going to do with you Zachariah Castor? You're turning my life upside down already, and I've only known you for two days.
