I woke with start to screaming cut off sharply with a snap. I get out of bed silently and hurriedly get dressed and grab my 9mm. I crack the door of my motel room open and look to see where the screaming had came from. When I look down the walkway, I see a small group of three big guys walking in my way. I close my door almost all the way as they walk by. Now, I can see the woman from room 4 slung over one man's shoulder.
The men seem very bloodthirsty, I thought. I continue to watch them to see where they are going and if there is anyone else with them. They use a key to get into room 7, a few doors down from me. I wait a few seconds to see if anyone else is around, then slip through the door and creep to the door these guys disappeared behind.
The windows have blinds on the inside, but one is caught on another, leaving a little room for me to see inside. What I see is not a pretty sight: there are bodies piled high in one corner, covered in blood, along with the once tan walls and clean bedspreads. The three guys are nowhere to be seen, but the woman from 4 was lying on her back on one of the three beds.
I see if they locked the door behind them. They didn't, probably thinking no one would mess with vampires. I sneak in, and over to the woman, her wide green eyes staring lifelessly into nowhere. The snap from before was the sound of her neck being broken.
Suddenly, I hear talking and footsteps coming my way. I quickly slid under one of the disgusting beds, and my feet disappear just as the first one appears.
"Who's first tonight boys?" the black haired one asks.
"I think it's my turn Tony," says the one with fiery orange hair.
"It should be my turn, Blaze, I killed her!" says the one with brown hair.
"How 'bout rock-paper-scissors? Brothers shouldn't fight," the black haired one, Tony, said with a wicked smile.
"I hate that foolish game, Tony! I don't care, Blaze can go first," the brown haired one said.
"Oh, goodie," Blaze said with a growl and hunger in his eyes.
One pair of feet moved toward me, next to the bed next to me. I could barely see their faces, but I have seen enough to tell that they cannot live any longer. I aim my weapon, but before I can shoot, there was a knock at the door. Blaze stopped in his tracks, and glanced at Tony and the other guy.
"Who's there? Blaze called out.
Another knock answered his question. Blaze called out again, getting angry. Knocking again answered him .Blaze huffed and stomped to the door and yanked it open.
"What!?" he yelled, eyes seeming to glow.
Realization dawned on his face and before he could react, a loud shot sounded though the night. What was left of his head rolled to the feet of James and Tony. They stared dumbfounded at his head, then snapped into action. James was infuriated, but before he could spring onto the newcomer, sent a bullet into his skull. I rolled out from underneath the bed and into one knee, and gun ready, aimed at Tony. He was scared out of his mind, obviously a newer vampire. I kind of felt sorry for him, but not really. I shot him, then aimed at the newcomer.
He was a tall, at least 5 feet, 10 inches, a well toned body, shaggy blond hair, and bright blue eyes. He was startled by my appearance, and he dropped his shotgun, and held his hands up, eyes on my gun aimed at his face.
"Whoa! How long were you under there?" He asked.
"Not long." I answered shortly.
"Um, you wouldn't happen to be Becky Stockman would you?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "I'm looking for Becky to offer her a job." He was still eyeing the gun in my hands.
"What's the job? And where?" I asked.
"Uh, can you not point your gun at my face?"
"No problem." I lowered the gun till it was level with his family jewels. "Better?" I gave him a crooked smile.
"I'd rather you point it at my face..."
"Too bad."
"Well, we need help finding and dispatching some werewolves and vampires. We can't find them, and we know you were trained by Maxx Whitman. He used to work for us."
"How do you know about me then?"
He swallowed. "We like to think we know about every supernatural thing that goes around killing other supernaturals. We put two and two together, the information we had on you and the killings and followed you."
I assessed him. I didn't think he was a threat, and his offer seemed genuine. I guess if I am wrong, which is rare, he will attack me and die. I put down my weapon. He lowered his hands slowly.
"I'll give you my phone number and you can call me with an answer?" He said hopefully.
"Yeah. Sure."
