Alex sighs, laying back on his bed with George. George was asleep, and he didn't necessarily want to wake him, but at the same time, he wanted someone to talk to. And he had questions.  He reached over and tapped George on the arm. The king didn't budge, dead asleep.

Oh come on... Wake up George!

Alex huffs, shaking his arm. It was morning, time to wake up anyway. George blinked awake.
"Hmm-? What... Oh... Alex, it's not that late, let's sleep in." He sighs. Alex frowns.
"No... I want to talk to you, and I have questions." He insists, sitting up. He winces a little from his bayonet wound, which was almost completely healed now. George sighs, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
"Fine... What is it?" He asks, groggily stretching out his arms above his head. Alex sighs.

Oh lighten up, I can't have you in a bad mood right now.

He tickles George's sides for a second, making George jolt in surprise and giggle.
"Eep! Heheh! Stop! Okay okay! I'm awake, what is it?" He chuckles, gently taking Alex's hand and squeezing it. Alex smiles.
"Well... I had a question about um... Who you have captured... Um... and who we HAD captured, but might be dead now..." He says sheepishly.

Please don't be John Laurens... Or Hercules Mulligan, or Marquis de Lafayette...

George seemed surprisingly empathetic.
"Ah... You're concerned it might be people you know? Well... John Laurens, that man you mentioned, he escaped by a thread... Um... we got a bunch of infantry... a couple captains... But... Not really anyone of huge importance... I had Washington, for a while." He says offhandedly, as if it didn't matter.

What?! George Washington! Fuck!

Alex splutters.
"What?! You have Washington?! Where is he? I have to see him!" He demands. George rolls his eyes.
"HAD, sweetheart. I let him go." He says with a sigh. Alex was extremely confused.
"Wh... Why would you let him go? He's such an important person in the revolution!"

I don't believe it... You had a chance to end the war, and you just... Let him GO?!

George sighs.
"Well, I'm bored... This war is some form of entertainment..." He explains. Alex groans.
"Uhg... Well... When did you have him then?" He asks. George thinks for a moment.
"Hm... Well... I had him... Ah! I had him for a day or so, he was in another room. You were still unconscious, tied up in here. And... I just sort of tied him up, and tortured him a little with some toys. Don't worry, I didn't hurt him." He grins mischievously.

So basically exactly what you did to me?

Alex sighs.
"You are terrifying sometimes... You know that? Did he ask about me, by the way?" He asks curiously. George nods.
"He did, that was practically the first thing he asked. He was... ah... Happy you were alive, and he said if I hurt you, he would kill me. Fun times." He smiles.

Ah... Well at least I know Washington cares about me.

Alex rolls his eyes.
"Why did you let him go, and not me? Why would I be the lucky one? I'm not even as valuable..." He sighs, curling his knees up to his chest. George sighs.
"You're valuable to me. I saw you, and I knew you were special. You just have this aura about you, I can't describe it." He smiles, kissing Alex on the cheek.

I'm magic? That's your excuse?

Alex seemed somewhat happy, but he was still bummed.
"You just had a chance to end the war for your country, and you didn't..." He says softly. George shrugs.
"Eh. It doesn't matter. Don't think about it too much, okay?" He says reassuringly. Alex trying to push it aside, but it was bothering him.
"Listen... I just... All of this is really confusing... People keep trying to hurt me, and I feel like I'm in more danger here, than I was on the battlefield..." He admits. George frowns, thinking for a moment.
"Right... I... I'm sorry... Finding guards I can trust with protecting you is difficult..." He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.

Yeah no shit...

Alex sighs, laying back on the bed.
"Yeah... You don't have to remind me..." He scratches his bayonet wound gently. George huffs.
"How about... I get us some cake?" He says with smile. Alex perked up.
"Oh! Yes please!" He smiles happily. George laughs.
"Alright cutie." He purrs, ruffling Alex's hair before getting up and leaving the room. Alex was left with his thoughts again.

You are so strange... I don't think I'll ever understand you...
