Night After

Gauri's POV:

My aunty left after warning me to behave.

The thing I was scared of is finally happening. I was seated in the middle of the large bed in Arjun's room. it was decorated with rose petals and flowers . Add to that, I had this annoying veil covering my face. my heart was beating so fast that I  feared I might get heart attack. moreover the costume is heavy and I badly wanted to change it. My aunty warned me not to move and shattered my hopes about giving my marriage to Arjun a chance, by saying " you are only a substitute. Remember that. Don't you dare to take Tina's Place. Arjun still likes Tina. He himself told me."

Is she for real? Just a week ago, she pleaded me to marry him. Now she's saying like this.
But what  if he forces me. I don't think I am not even ready to marry Arjun but now.
God, save me!

what takes him so much time. I waited , waited and slept. I  don't know when he entered. he tried to remove my dupatta and I wake up panicked. I looked at him as if I have seen a ghost and about to shout.

" wait , don't scream and wake up the entire house." Arjun closed my mouth with his hand . once I nodded, he let go of me.

" I know I scared you. but  I didn't want to wake you " he said . I could only nod my head.

"I was tensed to come in soon. so , I watched those girls dance " he trailed as I raised my eyebrows, " no, I didn't exactly watch . I was just pretending. " he said nervously . Why is he nervous?
He sat next to me and held my hand gently "don't worry I won't force you into anything. I know you are not even ready for this marriage. I can understand. Don't be afraid of me. We will do after we get comfortable with eachother. Your night dress is in there ." he said pointing towards the cupboard. I let out a sigh of releif on hearing this. But a part of me was sad as I realized what my aunty was true. He too want Tina only.

Why should I be disappointed?
" change into it and sleep peacefully. " he said as he made arrangements on the floor.
" wait, you take bed and I'll sleep there . " I  insisted.

" no.what will people think if I let my wife sleep on the floor ?" he said playfully.

" same applies here  Mr.Husband.how about you take one side and I take other side of the bed to sleep. " I asked him.

" ok for me. but  you might feel uneasy . " he said .
"as long as you didn't cross this border, you will be fine " I said while placing a pillow at the centre of the bed. he chuckled and  stood up to sleep over on his side of the bed. after that I went inside the bathroom , changed and came.
He sat on the bed waiting for me. " now what?" I asked him.
" hmm. Show me your mehandi" he asked.
" why? " I asked him.
" to find my name" he stated. I showed him my hand.
Oh! I didn't have any gift to give him if he finds his name.
" wah, it's really dark. You do know what it means , right?" he asked making my cheeks go red.
" here it is! " he exclaimed like a little boy. His smile is contagious. My lips twitches seeing it.
" now , shall we sleep?" he asked.
" I am sorry . I forgot your gift. I will give you tomorrow after we reach Pune." I replied sincerely.

" it's ok. " he replied. I was angry on myself for not able to gift him.

I switched off the lights " good night ,husband "

" sleep , we need to leave early tomorrow morning " he mumbled. He might be rude but not bad.

Arjun's POV:

I thought of speaking a lot with her after her emotional outburst the other day. I have to  warn her to stay away from them especially my mom . she's no good.

Gauri just reminded me about the things I want to forgot.
Her aunty told me about Gauri needing time to adjust. She asked me not to rush our relationship. I agreed as I really like Gauri.
