Sky stopped to look around waiting for some indication that something was out there, she didn't hear or see anything so she continued to walk around in the dark being cautious of where she was going because the flashlight battery had died.

"That is the last time I ever let my cousin use my flashlight." She thought to herself.

She whipped around as she heard a noise, like claws walking in the distance behind her.

Out here in the woods it gets really dark, you can't see two steps in front of you, but Sky has to kill this monster before it claims more innocent lives. These monsters were called Grendel's; they had sharp teeth, a long tail, and red eyes, with bat-like ears. She readies her knife to attack whenever it comes close. She senses it moving closer and closer.

She focuses on the sound of the claws and waits. she hears it snarling in the distance as it's coming closer.

Two seconds later it pounce but I she moves out of the way just in time. Then takes this opening to pounce right back at it taking a jab at its face, a cry of pain comes from the Grendel .

It takes it's claws and swipes at her but misses by an inch, so Sky uses the opening to take her chance and stab it again in the face.

The Grendel wails louder than before, it fell to the ground squirming in circles with a loud pitched cry. Sky then pulls out the sword from her back holster then cuts off its head. She stands there for a minute to catch her breath and wait to see if there are more Grendels out there. As a hunter she was taught to be patient because you never know when there are more monsters lurking in the dark.

She didn't hear a peep so she moved on to her main mission, finding the nest and killing them all. Sky is one of the youngest top ranked slayers among her community. She was raised by a man named Christopher, he took her in after her parents died when she was 6 years old. He trained her into the fighter she is

She walked deeper into the woods, where she met up with her cousin Josh.

Sky wanted to tell him about the flashlight but Christopher's number one rule of Slaying is "Stay focused." She gives a slight smile hearing those words echo through her head.

Sky and Josh walked quietly through the woods. All slayers are to be in groups of 2-4 One for the main slaying, the second for tracking, the third and fourth are for backup if you intend to go on a big slaying mission. Which this was classified as, they were to meet the other two slayers up ahead.

The four of them went into the cave where the demons have been camping, the four slayers were silently hoping that the humans the Grendels took yesterday hadn't all been devoured yet and were still alive. Sky could feel the dampness of the cave and smell the stale blood. Bones were scattered everywhere as she looked over at the other team Kelly Morris and her best friend Andy Cullings.

Andy gave Sky a head nod to signal that way, when they locked eyes. she looked in the direction of his head nod and saw them sleeping. And behind that she saw the missing humans all un conscience.

They had a plan but didn't count on these demons to be so close to the missing people. They didn't want to risk them getting hurt in this fight. They turned around and walked back out to discuss a new plan of action.

"What do we do now?" Kelly asked with a worried look on her face.

"Setting the Grendels on fire won't work if the humans are that close!"

"I'm honestly not sure what to do here." Sky replied, there really wasn't a good enough option in this situation.

"We have to strike while they are asleep or all hell will break loose," The slayers passed a glance of worry at one another.

There's no telling what kind of damage would be done.

"I got an idea." They all looked to Josh as he told them his plan to lure the Grendels out of the cave.

"We should signal for backup." Andy suggested and they all nodded their heads.

Andy walked away to set up a signal of help for any other hunters nearby.

As a hunter you have to know the signals and when to use the right ones.

Blue is small back up dealing with a simple job,

Green is for more of a medium size job that requires two groups of four,

Yellow is when a hunter is in distress and needs help with serious issues non-hunting related,

and last is Red it symbolizes chances of death and injury it means a slayer

needs all the help they can get.

Andy put out a Red signal cause this was the kind of job that needed all hands on deck.

The slayers waited as they saw all the hunters nearby gathering around the signal.

"Okay listen up." Josh said in a loud enough whisper

"We have a nest of Grendel's surrounding humans that they have taken, I have a plan to lure them out here so we need 3 to go in and bring them out, and from there the rest should be easy.

"We need to get them away from the humans or they will kill them."

Josh has always been a good leader even if he was a tracker and not a hunter he could get anyone to follow his leadership.

As everyone gets into place for the ambush, Sky looks to her friends and tells them to stay safe. They all nod in unison and begin their long awaited mission.
