Tales Of A Slayer

Chapter 2

As the hunters entered the cave to set the plan into motion everyone on the outside got their weapon of choice ready to battle.

In the midst of the darkness and quiet there was a loud piercing screech.

The three slayers who had gone in to lure the Grendels out came running out of the cave. A short while later the Grendels who were nesting inside the cave came running out and screeching.

At that moment all the slayers came out of hiding attacking full force,

Arrows were flying from the distance, swords were swinging, some slayers were using fire to kill the monsters.

It was an all around bloodbath, at some point in the midst of the battle Josh noticed a Grendel coming up from behind Sky.

"SKYYYY!" he Yelled as he ran towards her, Josh lunged forward towards Sky while she was preoccupied with fighting the Grendel in front of her, he pushed her out the way, and took the hit for her. Sky watched in horror as Josh's body hit the floor, it was so quick but to Sky it all happened in slow motion, Sky's heart had dropped in her chest.

"NOOO JOSHHH!!" Sky screamed. She got up off the ground and with anger and sadness in her heart she grabbed her sword off the ground and started doing what she was born to do... slay.

One after another the Grendels fell by the hands of the slayers. When it was all done Sky ran back to where Josh was laying to make sure he was still alive. He was barely breathing

"I NEED A MEDIC!" Sky yelled for someone, anyone to help. A couple of slayers ran to her. She got up out of their way while they tried to stop the bleeding enough to transport him back to the base

The base was a big enough hideout to house a majority of slayers who had no place to go, a medical center for the injured along with a command center to track and kill any threats. The Medics rushed Josh into the medical center where Sky watched in such horror as the bleeding continued.

She couldn't help but think of the past....

Sky and her parents didn't have much in their lives but they had each other and a roof over their heads.

She had always thought it was a good life, that is until her parents were murdered by a Grendel in the middle of the night. She hid in the closet of her childhood room until someone had opened the door and it was the man who had raised her, Christoper.

Christopher was a slayer and he was tasked with killing the Grendel who had killed Sky's parents. He had taken her under his wings teaching her lessons of slaying and life.

Sky and Josh grew up together; she knew Christoper wasn't her dad but Josh has always been like a big brother to her. He always had her back no matter what.

When Sky and Josh were young they had both wondered off looking for adventure, when suddenly a Grendel came from nowhere Sky was new to hunting and was terrified, Josh had to grab her hand and run through the woods trying to escape.

The Grendel wouldn't let up and kept chasing them till they came to a cliff. Sky and Josh had nowhere to go and at this age didn't really have a decent weapon but a knife.Josh pulled out his knife.

"Don't worry Sky, I'll protect you no matter what." Josh had this look in his eyes like he was ready to die for Sky, he was ready to die for someone he barely knew.

At that moment Sky saw the meaning of family. Before Josh could fight Christopher came to the rescue and managed to kill the Grendle and take both kids home.

"Thank you Josh, for saving me." Sky said to Josh as they sat in the backseat of the car going home. Home was a broken concept for Sky Since her parents died but she had managed to find a new place to call home among Christopher, Josh and the other slayers.
