The pouring rain did little to cover the splashing of running footsteps down a back alley in Daegu. At any other time, Jungkook would curse and wonder why the sky decided today of all days to rain. But he had other things to worry about. Namely the three large men chasing him and his mother for some reason she didn't have time to tell him before she yelled at him to run.

Somewhere between streets, they'd seemingly lost them. Giving them just enough time to haul themselves up the back steps to their shared flat. The second they were close his mother shoved him inside startling their roommate from his sleeping position on the couch.

"What is going on?" Yoongi asked.

Panting and trying to get back his breath Jungkook shook his head, "I don't know. We were on our way back and suddenly my mom told me to run. Next thing I know these three giant men are chasing us all the way here."

"Here? You led them here?" Yoongi asked.

Jungkook's mother waved the question away motioning for each of the boys to grab an edge of the bookshelf. "That doesn't really matter now, help me move this in front of the door."

"Doesn't matter? Men chased us nearly two miles eomma," Jungkook said.

They moved the bookshelf all huffing from exhaustion and the dust the move kicked up. Once it was in front of the door Jungkook's mother began muttering to herself and typing on her phone.

Growing frustrated and panicked Yoongi shouted, "Will someone please explain what is going on?"

Everyone seemed to stop for a moment, Jungkook's mother looked up from typing on her phone. She looked at Jungkook with wide sorrow-filled eyes and walked up to him. Promptly, she pulled him into a tight embrace and stroked his hair.

The younger boy shot Yoongi a confused look and slowly patted his mothers back, "Eomma, whatever it is, we can help you. Please just tell us."

"Those men...they were with your father." She said.

Both boys froze, Jungkook stepping back from his mother. They looked at her like she was crazy for a moment before Yoongi spoke up. "Does Jungkook's father happen to be yakuza or something?"

"No," she smiled sadly. "But he might as well be."

"B...B...But he left why is he...why are they here?" Jungkook asked.

Both Yoongi and Jungkook's mother could tell the younger boy was becoming overwhelmed. His mother reached up smoothing her son's hair softly. The moment didn't last long as loud banging began rattling the door.

"Listen, boys, you need to do as I say okay?" His mother spoke carefully. "Jungkook, I need you to take this letter and don't lose it. Read it when you're far away from this place."

His mother rushed to the small dresser by the door and grabbed two backpacks and gave each boy one.

"W...Why are there only two?" Jungkook asked.

"Listen, my son, my sweet boy. You are going to do great things alright. I love you so much, you and Yoongi need to stay together okay? Take care of each other, and find your brother. I'm so sorry we didn't have more time." She rested her forehead against Jungkook's. "Take care of my boy Yoongi, I know you two love each other, don't lose that."

Yoongi looked behind her the bookshelf was rattling and almost falling over. They all knew the door wouldn't last much longer. Soon the owners of the harsh pounding and angry knocks would be inside. "O...Okay."

"Take him far away from here, don't come back. Go now, please."

"But eomma." Jungkook said just as the door was being forced open. "Eomma!"

Yoongi grabbed Jungkook's hand just as a gun was raised towards them and Jungkook's mother jumped in front of them. As they disappeared in a swirl of smoke the last sound Jungkook heard was a gunshot.
