"Hi Mommy" She waved towards her mother who was sitting in the middle of a field of daisies. The woman turned around facing her youngest daughter, outstretching her arm with a gentle smile on her face. She ran towards her mother embracing her tightly, laughing in her arms. Her mother pushed her back a tad pinching her left cheek. "Look at these pretty flowers, Loralie", the little girl gasped in awe, "They're very pretty" she said excitedly grabbing some from off the floor, pulling it out of the ground. "They're pretty just like you." She smiled touching the tip of Loralie's nose with her pointer finger. Loralie giggled, scrunching up her nose out stretching her arms to give the daisies to her mother. "Here Mommy, just for you!" She chimed.
"Did you know that Daisies are my favorite flower?", Loralie shrugged, not knowing how to answer, and the mother laughed at that. "Why don't you go over to your sisters and father. I'll be right there" Grabbing the temples of Loralie's head, her mother placed a kiss upon her forehead. Loralie violently nodded her head as she ran towards her dad and sisters who had been under a tree. The tree's were in the midst of changing colors as they headed into the season of fall. Loralie ran back to the rest of her family in her baby blue dress as her long curly light brown locks swayed side to side.
"Daddy, Daddy! Did you know Mommy's favorite flower is daisies?!" she came with her new found information she found out.
"Yes? I did? How did you know I never told you?" her dad seemed confused.
"You're so silly Daddy, Mommy told me." It had seemed as if she said something wrong as even her older sister's looked at her funny."I knew mom's favorite flower was daisies" Andrea said,
"She told you too! There is a whole bunch over there" She said pointing over to where she was, until she didn't see the field of daisies anymore. "I promise I saw-" She tried to continue but her oldest sister tells her "Those are weeds, Loralie".
"Don't be harsh to your sister Danica." Loralie's eyes started to fill with water as she stared at the empty field. "Mommy was there just a second ago, she said she'll be here in a second, she said-."
"It's okay we're going to visit Mommy after our picnic alright" Her father clarified,
"But she's already here?" Loralie seemed confused.
She was even more confused when she saw her mother's name on a gravestone, a stack of daisies laying on her grave. "Daddy, what is this?" The water was building up in her eyes, looking over to her older sister's hoping for them to tell her it's a joke or that it's the wrong person. But that failed from happening.
"Say hi to Mommy"
"Hi mom" Danica and Andrea said in unison,
"Mommy is hiding right?" She looks over to her right and sees a figure standing in front of a tree near the distance and that's when she caught the details of her mother's face wearing a white dress. "There's Mommy, I found you" she said pointing towards the figure's direction, her father and sisters looked over and saw nothing.
"There's nothing there Loralie" Danica announces.
"Yes she is, she's right there!" She justifies.
"She's not there, She's dead Loralie" Andrea puts it to her,"Our mother is dead."
