"Mo! You awake?" Daz shouted from down the stairs.

I hurled myself out of bed and opened the door.

"I mean, I am now!" I yelled back.

"Get up and dressed! We're going shopping!"

"For what?"

"You! Now let's go! I'll meet you in the car in 15 minutes!"

I dashed into the bathroom to comb out my rats nest of hair. It's always horrible when I first wake up. I can't even begin to tell you how many combs I have broken because of this head of hair.

I combed it quickly with the black comb sitting on the sink, then dashed back to my room to get dressed. Nothing fancy, just a pair of black jeans and a t shirt. I threw it on as quick as I could and headed down the stairs. Daz was on his phone and didn't hear me come down the stairs.

"Boo!" I yelled as I came into the kitchen. He jumped and tossed his phone, and clumsily caught it. I couldn't help but laugh.

"Jesus shit you scared me." He said, catching is breath.

"Sorry." I chuckled.

"It's all good. You ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's do it."

I've only being staying with Daz for a few days, but already he has become my favorite person that I have ever stayed with. He's so kind, generous, sassy, and funny. But the beat part is that he actually gives a shit about me. Thats never happened before, and it is the most amazing feeling.

Daz grabbed his car keys off of the counter, and headed for the door.

"We're just going to grab you a few things. Probably some clothes, essentials, and a phone."

I laughed in astonishment. "A phone? Why?"

"Because you're a teenager, and I know you'll be other places besides the house all the time. I need to make sure I can get in contact with you."

"Daz, I don't nees a phone. That's too much."

He opened the door. "I want to get it for you. It's my gift to you."

I shrugged it off. I wasn't going to let him buy me a phone. It just wasn't right.

We got in the car, and his classic rock CD began playing on the radio. The song playing was "Radio Ga Ga" by Queen.

"Hey, I love this song!" I said, climbing in.

"Me too! It's such a good song." He agreed.

We drove to the general store and parked the car. Daz grabbed a trolley and we started walking around. Basically for the next half an hour, shopping for hygiene products, it'd go like this:

Daz: do you need [insert thing here]?
Me: I think I have some. OR No, I'm good.
Daz: okay. *throws it in the trolley anyway*

I don't think Daz realized that I had deodorant, shampoo, and a toothbrush, but whatever.

Then, the time came. We headed towards the back of the store towards the electronics.

"Any ideas what kind of phone you want?" He finally asked me, looking at the smartphones.

"The nonexistant one." I said. "Daz, I can't let you buy me a phone. Its just too much."

"Darling, look, I know you're not uses to being treated well, but trust me, it's okay to have a phone. I want to buy you one. Please, just pick one out."

"Daz, I-"

"Or you're getting the newest iPhone. Go."

I took a step back.

"You wouldn't."

"Try me, bitch." He said in a Kardashian accent. I laughed.

"Okay, fine. What's my budget? Like, £30?"

"Sure, if you want a fucking Barbie phone."

"I mean-"

"No." He said. "Get a phone. You've got 10 minutes. No ifs ands or buts."

I huffed, and turned around. I pointed at the cheapest iPhone I could find.

"That one. And i still feel bad about it."

"Don't. Lets cash it out."

Back in the car, Daz handed me the iPhone 6s. He grinned, and then put his hand on my shoulder.

"You're a good kid, Mo," he said, "and I want to give you the best."

"I just... I don't know how long I'll be here. And i just feel so bad. You spent so much money on me. What if I leave in a few weeks?"

He sighed. "Ultimately, that choice is up to you."

"What do you mean?"

"Mo, I'm never going to kick you out. I know that's what youre used to, but that's not how I roll. I want to have you here. You're more than just a guest here. You're family. And you're going to be treated as such."

At that moment, I finally lost my composure. I fell apart, and collapsed onto Daz. I just could not stop crying. I felt everything all at once. He stroked the back of my head lovingly.

"Daz..." I said, in between sobs, "I don't ever want to leave you."

"I know, Mo." He said, giving me a kiss on the top of the head, "and you're not anytime soon."
