-Sho-chan! Sho-chan!

The young boy stopped in his walk and turned around. The girl with the dark blue hair arranged in two braids was chasing after him, a book in her hand. She stopped beside him and leaned against her knees to catch her breath.

-I told you to wait for me after class, you never listen to anything!, she accused him.

-Won't you come back to your house?

"Leave me alone", he prayed internally.

-No.Even if I do, there's no one there...

A wave of melancholy veiled her face for a moment before dissipating to make way for her usual smile.

-Come on! Let's chatt for a bit!

-I don't know ... if I don't come back in time my father will ...

He stopped for a moment. He couldn't afford to talk about it so cautiously in front of a stranger. How did this girl get him to let his guard down without even doing it on purpose? And why does she keep following him? He is already starting to regret having spoken to her during the start of the school year.

-Will?, she encouraged him to continue.

-Never mind.

That said, she appeared surprised but decided to continue.

-Look !, she said presenting the book to him. I found it at the bottom of an old box at the school library.

-What an achievement!, he joked. Wanna candy?

She ignored his remark.

-It looks like an old magic book!, she said enthusiastically, flipping through it.Wait...Damn it! There are torn pages !, she screamed.

-Well done! Good luck explaining this to the librarian!, he congratulated her before leaving.

-Wait!!, she begged him, gripping his sleeve. You can't leave me like that! You are my only witness!

He pushed her away.

-Don't count it too much, I didn't ask you anything. Fend for...

He stopped dead when he saw tears running down her face.

-...yourself.

He had forgotten this detail. "You girls seriously, you are like glass balls, easy to break and difficult to repair."

He put his hand on her head and ruffled her hair.

-I am not good at comforting a crying girl, he apologized.

He will probably never admit it, but it hurts him. He has no other company than her. And strangely it did him good. No one likes to be alone after all, not even him.

-Alright! I understood the message; I will help you. Now stop making that beaten puppy look.

She looked up, beaming again. She quickly wiped away her tears and hugged his arm.

-Thank you, Sho-chan!

He frantically scratched the back of his head, such a brat!

-I told you to stop calling me like that. What are you? A kid?

And they set off for the nearest cafe.

On the road, she kept chatting endlessly. And he listened loudly to what she said. She's always been like that, he wonders how he managed to support her.

It was getting late, it was almost night. He raised his head to the sky and reprimanded himself internally.

"My father won't let that go ... but what does it matter!"

-Say Shoto, will you read this story with me?, she suddenly asked.

-No.

-Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh? Why that?

-I wonder.

-Please!

-No.

-Come on! Just a little, like that..., she said, showing him with her fingers.

-I said no.

And here we go again...
