The next morning, I feel hands on my shoulders. They start shaking me. My eyes flutter open lazily, finding Rose on the edge of my bed. "I'm up... I'm up..." I mumble, rubbing the sleepiness from my eyes. She rolls her eyes. "Faye, you're going to be late," Rose says. I immediately spring up out of bed, falling onto the cold, hard ground. I roll my eyes as I hear muffled laughter from both Rose and Katori, who were now near there beds getting there stuff together. "I'm going to be late on my first day..." I mutter, groaning as I lift myself off the ground and crawl to my dresser. I quickly choose a simple white shirt, with blue jeans and slip them on. I stand up and go to my awaiting socks and shoes.

"You know, I just have to say It's pretty funny to watch you stumble around." Katori comments. I playfully glared at her, as I put on my right shoe. As soon as I put on my left shoe, Katori hands me a few books and my schedule. I look at her questioningly. "All the newcomers get starter books. The minister told me to give them to you." She explains, walking to the door. I nod, understanding. Rose and Katori walk out of the door first. As I step outside of the dorm room, the door behind me closes. Katori looks at her watch on her wrist. "We have 2 minutes to get to our classes before we are late. We need to run. I have your class, Faye. So I can lead you." Katori says. Rose nods. "Bye guys. See you after class!" She says, then runs off. Katori takes my wrist, and we start running in the opposite direction.

I'm glad I'm not going to be completely alone on my first day, I thought. I glance down at my schedule. Katori has all my classes. Rose is even in one of them. We stop running as we reach a door. As we walk through the door, a bell can be heard throughout the building. Katori and I sigh in relief. As I stay near the door, Katori walks over to a seat in the middle of the room. "Class! May I acquire your attention?" The woman at the front asks formally. The students stop talking immediately. "We have a new student joining us today." She says, gesturing for me to walk to the front of the class. I hesitantly do so.

As I stand upfront, I fidget nervously. I seriously don't do well in crowds, I thought sarcastically. "Introduce yourself, young lady." The teacher commands gently. "My name is... is uh... Faye Azal." I manage to say. Everyone in the room immediately starts to whisper to each other. "You're the daughter of Kalmin Azal?" The teacher asks, unbelieving. I nod, sheepishly. "Well, alright then. I have high expectations for you. You can choose any available seat." She says, then turns to the board behind her. I nod, then start walking towards to back. I quickly find an empty seat at the very very back and plant my butt there. I place my books on the table. My anxiety rises as some people turn around to look at me. The Stargem begins to pulse comfortingly, trying to calm me down.

Slowly, I relax. "Ok class. Scan your card on the scanner." The teacher commands. Everyone starts to shuffle and cards begin to appear. Suddenly, I see a scanner pop up onto everyone's desks. "Faye, I will give you your card at the end of class." The teacher says. I nod. Soon, everyone has there cards scanned and placed on top of the desk. The scanners disappear. "Now. Where did we leave off yesterday?" The teacher asks, as holographic screens now pop up onto the desks. Everyone in the classroom raises there hands, trying to get picked. As time went on, I just watched and listened. Well, half listened. I knew everything they were currently working on. My dad taught me all he knew. He made sure I knew what I needed to know, at a young age.
