"Wind! Take me home!"
I laughed as the wind picked me up from the ground and I was sent soaring through the sky. My arms were spread out, and a huge smile was present on my face. After another great day of seeing to it that no outdoor surface went without frost or snow, It was finally time to take a break. I loved my job, but it was still nice to relax.
I looked around me to see how close I was, only to see the Northern Lights high in the sky, a display of bright colors.
This better be good, North.
Soon after telling the wind where to take me, I arrived at the North Pole. North was there, along with Tooth and Sandy. Bunny arrived not a minute after me, an annoyed look on his face. After the whole ordeal with Pitch, us Guardians became closer, met up, hung out more often. This didn't stop bunny from complaining every time he was told to come to the Pole without a warning.
Bunny tapped his foot impatiently, looking from North, to the rest of us, and back to North again. "What is it this time, mate? We're all kinda busy here."
I had to hold back a joke about his accent. "Yeah, what do you want from us now?" I asked semi-sarcastically.
North rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm not sure, actually."
At this, Bunny scoffed and Sandy started making shapes from his sand above his head. He was switching between pictures so fast, I had no idea what he was trying to say. Tooth just kept listening, waiting for him to explain, though I could've sworn I saw her roll her eyes.
"What? Why'd you pull the bloody signal then?" I held back a chuckle at Bunny's short temper.
"Yeah, I was about to go to the Warren to mock him." I teased, jabbing a finger in Bunny's direction.
"Real funny, mate."
"I don't know why you're here, but Man in Moon does." North gestures to the sky, and only then do I realize how brightly the Moon is shining. "So what is it this time, old friend?"
We wait for a response, but don't receive a verbal one. Instead, North's question is answered by the Moon drawing a giant crystal from the ground infront of us.
Tooth was first to respond, "Do you know what this means, guys?"
"Another Guardian?" Bunny questions, "We already got this loser." He gestures to me.
"Yeah, I just got here," I ignore is insult, "And Pitch is gone. Why do we need a new one?"
"Must be big deal." North answers with a shrug.
"That's what you said last time."
"And it was big deal last time"
"Come on guys, he's picking!" Tooth's wings flittered faster with excitement as she started listing off different spirits who might've been chosen. "Maybe it's Cupid!" Tooth swooned at the thought of the love god.
"We hope not." North said, Bunnymund agreeing.
I spoke up, "This is for the children, North. As long as they help the kids." I was saying it jokingly, but not at the same time. North only shook his head, disapproving of my jokes. Tough crowd..
"Shh! It's happening!" Tooth pushed forward, heart set on being the first to see who the new Guardian would be.
We all turned our heads back to the crystal, only to see that the new Guardian was-
I don't know. "Who's that? Everyone shrugged and turned to Manny, asking him the same thing.
He spoke only one word.
Disease.
