As a human, we are cared for and looked after. At the Nora's home, it's a different story, Ricardo Nora sits on his chair as he waits for his twenty-year-old mother to feed him some food. Ricardo sits as his stomach starts to ache and rumble. You can hear the sounds of it rumble. Scars on his face from the night before and he is only five years old. That's when his mother that has tattoos all over her body, comes in with a small plate of dry omelette and a spoon. That is placed in front of him. Ricardo takes a spoon full and shoves it into his mouth, gagging at the salty taste of it. How his dry tears on his face tasted like his salty meal. He swallowed and looked up at his maker asking for help. He couldn't take another bite, even though it was the only thing he had to eat in a while. He ate it and swallowed it down for his good. Ricardo's mother, Mary Nora was a nice lady outside of the home: she seemed too innocent to do the horrific acts that Ricardo witnessed. After finishing his meal, Ricardo headed to his room. Forgetting to put his dishes away, that's when Mary saw the mess and grabbed the broom that was leaning on the wall. Smacking the broom with full force into Ricardo back. Ricardo fell with shock, he didn't know what hit him. He tried to get up, but his mama pushed him and kept pushing him down to the solid wooden floor. He kept falling on the ground bruising his knee, he tried to get up but his mama didn't let him. Mary yelled at him, calling him stupid, dumbass and gay. He didn't understand what the words meant, but he knew it was bad. Every time Mama said this to him, he became angrier and when he heard these words, he became triggered. Mary grabbed him by the arm and pulled him up, Screamed at him to go get ready for school. Ricardo ran to his bedroom, closing the door behind him and grabbing his outfit for the day. He pulled out brown pants and pulled a white shirt out of the closet. He got dressed as fast as he could when he heard footsteps coming from outside of his room. Ricardo ran to his drawer grabbing his socks and looking back at the door. That's when the door opened and he was scared. He was silent when he grabbed his socks. Mama looked at him and screamed. Mama was furious, she looked at him, he looked at her. Mama walked, grabbing him by the ear and pulling him downstairs. Ricardo went downstairs, with his mama behind him. That's when he heard a sound coming from downstairs, it was Jorge his stepfather. A man outside of the Nora's home, seen as a good man at work. Anyone outside was convinced that he was a good man, a hard-working man. A man who serves his family, some people would even say that Jorge saved Mary and her three children from being homeless. He looked up the stairs, looking up at Ricardo. "What was going on, up here," Jorge said. He had a smile on his face, he asked again.Mary responded
"he was being disrespectful and acting like a little bitch. Not even cleaning his mess." Mary looked down at Ricardo stepping back. "Jorge are you just going to look at me, or going to tell him what he did wrong and going to punish him about it. He is a stupid brat" Mary says. Ricardo looks up at his mother and he starts to cry. That's when Jorge starts to scream at Ricardo, when he tries to run. Jorge pulled him down the stairs by his leg, he fell hurting his face. Hitting every step to the bottom, finally getting up at the end hurting his leg. This was a normal thing for Ricardo, he always got punished for little things like not being able to tie his shoes, not being able to eat food fast enough or simply saying no. Ricardo days and nights were always filled with terror and thinking that one day he would wake up and get badly hurt. He never got any help and when he tried to ask for help, it never came for. Jorge pulled him down and started to beat him with a shoe. Ricardo screamed and tried to run away, but the forty-year-old man who was pushing down a five-year-old boy. Of course, Jorge had the advantage. Ricardo looked up and questioned the position he was in. Why is this happening to me, why do I always get hurt in the morning, am I normal and is there anyone there? Questions a five-year-old shouldn't be asking, a normal kid should be happy to be alive and having the greatest of days. Life can be hard. Life should be this hard for a child. After Jorge finished beating him, with the shoe. Ricardo got up and was yelled to go put on his shoes quickly. He headed out the door and into his Mama's Toyota. A silver minivan that had a door that slid to the side. Ricardo walked into the car and sat down. They drove the short ride to the school, where Ricardo was rolled in. Ricardo lived in a small town in California called Scarboro. Where Ricardo was enrolled in St.Mary Elementary School, where he was in junior kindergarten. He was wearing his off-brand black shoes that day. Fidgeting with his hands and tapping his feet together. He knew that the abuse from home wouldn't just end at home, but he was mistreated at his school because he was different. The only Hispanic kid in his class, he was always mistreated. His Mama screamed at him to get out of her car and Ricardo did. He walked to his class to see all the other kids, Ricardo's only friend was Marcus, who waved him over. Ricardo walked over to his friend and before he could even get there. He was tripped by Matthew Mariak, he fell on the floor hurting his leg. Ricardo became enraged and attacked Matthew's back with a chair. The teacher, Mrs. Lacariti, pulled Ricardo away from Matthew. She pulled him outside.
