Some like to think that we're all given a second chance at life after we die. It's a nice thought to have in those moments where you feel as if you're wasting away the time you already have. Maybe in your next life you will make a difference in the world.

Only people who haven't experienced someone they cared about dying keep these happy thoughts flowing through their mind. Knowing that you once held them in you arms and heard their pulse, only to watch them be buried six feet deep below your feet takes a piece from your soul.

If you're lucky that missing piece is buried with the one you loved. If you're unlucky no one will ever see it again, leaving it to wither away somewhere unfamiliar. I'm not telling you to abandon all your hope, I'm warning you not to rely on the unknown. It brings misery.

I can guess what you're thinking. I'm probably just another one of those depressed goth kids who has to take pills to stay happy, right?

Maybe you are right. Maybe you are wrong. It's not very important who I am just yet. All you need to know is that is that I'm one of those unlucky people who are missing that piece of their soul. I know it will never be seen again, not even by the strangers across the seas.

The person I lost the piece of my soul to knew every dark part of me and I barely knew the bright parts of them. But I did know enough to be in love with her and the mystery of her past.

This is not a sappy love story. This has nothing to do with love. This is a tragedy; a terrible turn of unexpected events that started out within the lines of a worn notebook.

As of this moment, I have no idea what is about to be written down. I will tell you that this knowledge is coming from some diaries that were left to me. You will not know who I am until I see fit. You will know me, but not know it's me writing this down.

Everything you are about to read unfolded before my very eyes, and I was completely unaware of the hidden messages behind all those actions.

This is not about me. This is about the suicide of Lily Gray, the girl who caused me to lose a piece of my soul.
