Y/N POV

"You think I care about anyone in this house besides Minhyuk?!" I scream as I finish packing my small backpack. "Your damn wrong if you think anything like that..." I say as I storm past my stepfather slouching against the door frame, reeking of alcohol with a bottle of whiskey still in his hand.

"Y-you get... your damn a..ss back... here!" He slurred through a scream reaching for my hair, missing my body entirely and collapsing on the floor blacking out. I walk away from him down the hall to my brother's room. Knocking on the door lightly, before slowly pushing the door open.

"Min? It's Y/n... it's safe now. He passed out." I slowly walk into the dark room to see Minhyuk's body hidden under the thick blankets of his bed. I sigh quietly before sitting at the foot of the bed. "Come on honey... we have to get to school." I say reaching my hand up to caress his back from outside of the blankets. He slowly peered out from the sheets with watery eyes. "Oh baby... come here." I reach my hands out to hold him in a tight embrace as he sobbed in my arms.

Our stepfather was always like this. Before our mother married him, he genuinely was pretty sweet. But after their marriage, everything turned for the worse. Our mother is a CEO of a manufacturing company in America, so she doesn't visit us in Seoul much. Our stepfather started abusing our wealth to be in a constant drunk state or high. And for a twelve year old boy, it's traumatizing to hear and see his sister being beaten, cut, and abused in front of him. I always did everything I could for Minhyuk. I want him to be happier than me, more successful than me. One day I'll get us out of this shit hole, but for now, we're both trapped.

"I'm sorry Min... but we need to beat all the traffic at school." I say placing a kiss on top of his head. I felt him give a slight nod from my chest before he started pulling away. I gave him a small smile, reaching my hand out to wipe his tears away. "Come on, let's get going." I say as I pick up both of our backpacks, heading for the door. He pulls on his shoes as I wait for him at his door, peeking out quickly to see if the man was still lying on the floor, and surely enough, he was. We walked out to the garage to unlock my car and drive away, both of us happy to be out of that house.

"N-noona..." Minhyuk murmured quietly, making me glance at him quickly in the seat next to me.

"What is it Min?" I say putting my hand on his shoulder as I pull up to a red light.

"W-when are we g-gonna live on o-our own?" he says staring back at me with huge doe eyes. I smile sweetly at him turning back to the road at the light change.

"Soon Min... I promise it'll be soon... before your next birthday!" I say trying to lighten the mood a little. "Now I have to ask, what do you want for your birthday this year?" I ask him to try and cheer him up. He shrugged watching the road like me.

"I dunno..." He said quietly.

"Oh come on! There has to be something!" I say with a laugh. "Well, I guess that'll have to wait anyway." I smile at him as I pull up to the school. I turn to see him looking out the window darkly. "Hey..." I say to get his attention, making him turn to face me. "We're gonna have a great day today. Ok?" I give him a kiss on his forehead before we both get out of the car with our bags.

Chan POV

"Christopher pay attention to me." My father says sternly. I turn my head to face him with annoyance plastered on my face. "You see this is your problem. You never listen to anyone when it's important." He sighs rubbing his temple.

"It's not that I'm not listening..." I murmur under my breath, hoping he didn't hear me.

"Ah but you see... I know you're not listening. Your eyes glass over when you're thinking, heh, almost like your dead." My father says with a chuckle, stopping the car in front of my school.

"Yeah... inside maybe..." I say as I open the car door and sling my bag over my shoulder, adjusting it on my denim jacket. I shut the door harshly walking to the brick wall where I normally sit before school. I open my bag and pull out my newest read. Macbeth. I've heard and studied the story dozens of times but I've never actually read it, being one of the only plays by Shakespeare I haven't read. I always found it easy to compare my own father to Macbeth. Cruel, power-obsessed, and basically mad. The fact that he's the most powerful CEO in Asia doesn't help anyone's cause...

"OMG Y/N!!" some girl squealed making me glance up from my book to find the source of the sound. The girl who screamed looked about my age, maybe a year younger. She had cherry red dyed hair that had been curled, she had a light layer of makeup that made her look flawless. But then the girl I'm assuming is Y/n came into my sights. I felt my lips part in awe as I watched her hug her friend. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my life. I could see her laugh as her lips spread into the most perfect smile. Her platinum bleached hair fell over her shoulders, the roots of her hair almost black as her hair faded back to its natural color. Her eyes shined so bright that I thought I was staring straight into the sun. Her gaze broke from her friends and found its way to mine. She froze the second she saw me returning her gaze, but not breaking it. My tongue swiped over my bottom lip and I sent her a wink, seeing her smile again lightly. No girl has ever affected me like she just did... who is she?

Y/N POV

"So I do have to ask..." my best friend Soyeon says drawing my attention back to her as we start walking into school. "How are you two doing?" She asks with concern.

"Things are..." I start thinking back to this morning and sigh. "I really don't know to be honest... I know everything is really hard on Min, and everytime I see him cry it breaks my heart more than a little. The asshole comes home this morning covered in hickeys and reaking of drugs and alcohol. When we were driving to school the poor boy asked me when we were going to live on our own together, and I didn't even know what to say. I-I... still don't..." I feel tears rolling down my face uncontrollably, but I quickly wipe them away in hopes no one would see them. I glance around to make sure that no one saw. But instead I make eye contact with the boy from earlier meeting my gaze. His face was plastered with worry with his head slightly cocked to the side. He sent me a small smile to hopefully cheer me up, and it does. I send him a small smile back, making him look slightly relieved.

"God Y/n... I'm so sorry... Do you need to stay at my house again tonight? You know both you and your brother are always welcome at our house." Soyeon says reaching her hand to rub my back.

"Thanks Yeonie, I think I'll take you up on that tonight... I wanna be able to enjoy at least ONE of my Fridays as a teenager." I say with a laugh as we walk into our class to sit down.

"OO YAY!!! I can't wait to tell Jaehyun! He'll be so excited to have a sleepover with his bestie!!!" Soyeon squeals while I put my bag under my chair giggling at her. I look up at the front of the room since class should be starting soon. But there he stands. The mystery boy from earlier. And god is he  gorgeous. He caught my stare and smiled as he saw me. It made me feel warm, safe. Who are you?
