The Moon

We don't leave the lighthouse, we can't leave the lighthouse. But something is calling me. My sister and I are hidden by society, never to be noticed. Only the lighthouse man knows we exist, but is under threat of death not to tell. I think he knows that we won't do it, but he hasn't told yet.
"Luna, stop staring at the moon. You're never going to get there." Sol never stops lecturing me about how I can't go, and I can't leave. But, that only makes me want it more. As I stand here at the lighthouse windowsill, I stare at where I long to be. "Madre always said that we could go to the moon if that's what we wanted. She promised she would take me." Sol sighs, "Lulu, I've told you before, we aren't going to the moon. Mami is gone." I yawn, "Sol, if you keep thinking like that, then she will be." Sol gets into the bed we have in our "temporary" home. Singing always helps Sol get to sleep. I begin,
Oh, my sun.
Oh, my moon.
There cannot be a light,
Without a dark.
So you are, my sun,
And you are, my moon.
Oh, my sun, my sun.
You are the light,
For the moon.
Oh, my moon, my moon.
You are the dark,
For the sun.
For there cannot be, no one without the other,
The sun,
The moon,
They hold the fate,
Of the world.

Sol is snoring by the time I'm done. I love to sing. Sol used to say I sounded just like mom. Mami loved to sing that song to us. When Mami used to live with us, oh, it was wonderful. We had a big house and a pool! Oh we loved the pool. Sol and I practically lived in the pool. But we are truly just like our names. She preferred the day and I the night. When she went in the pool, I was already out. After 13 good years, Mami decided that Sol and I needed to go elsewhere. Sol has no hope that she's coming back, it's really sad.
I lay down, and, eventually, I get to sleep.
"Oh. My. Gawd! Luna! Luna! Wake up!" I rub my eyes, "Sol, it's too early,  you know I don't wake up until at least 10:00. It's like 6, Sol?" Sol is looking out the window in excitement. She's so happy. I haven't seen her that happy since she was cooking with, MAMI. "S-Sol, is Mami back?

Sol are you,  crying." Sol nods, "Luna, she's back!" I smile, then I think and turn to Sol, "If she wants us back, have her only take you. Someone has to look after the lighthouse." Sol looks at me, confused, "No, hahaha, no. I-I-I-, Luna?" Her voice breaks as she talks, "Luna, who is going to sing me to sleep?" I smile, "Mami will."
