The Treason of Middle Earth

Chapter 1: The  White Council

This story happened long ago in the faraway realm of Middle Earth, when the free peoples of Gondor, Arnor, Rohan, Rivendell, Mirkwood, Lorien, Erebor and Mithlond were being enslaved by the Dark Lord Melkor of Mordor and his minions, the Orcs.  Hundreds of years were spent in battle, and the people wanted to live peacefully.

Melkor was once the greatest Maiar who ever existed, until  he assumed the power of Valar,  the Supreme Being. The Orcs were former Elves who desired more power and thus sided with Melkor.  Due to this, they changed in form and became ugly monsters.

The free peoples of Middle Earth lost their lands and their kinsmen. They were captured, tortured, killed without mercy.

One hundred years after the Battle at the Black Gate of Mordor , Lord Elrond Peredhel, the Half-Elven leader of Rivendell,  and the White Council --- the Council of the Wise Men ---decided to establish an alliance   known as the United Forces of Middle Earth.

This alliance’s aim was to end the darkness which  gripped  the eight kingdoms once and for all. It was successful for the number of Orcs were greatly reduced. In the  first years of the alliance, its Captains were  Prince Legolas Greenleaf of Mirkwood, King Elessar Telcontar of Gondor and Arnor, and Lord Gimli of Erebor. They led the different peoples of Middle Earth which included Men, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, The Order of the Maiar, Eagles and Ents.

After fifty  years, the Captains were replaced  with new  ones. The previous captains still remained part of the White Council of the United Forces of Middle Earth.

Prince Elrohir Undomiel, the first-born son of Lord Elrond Peredhel, was a Captain and an Immortal. He was known as the greatest bowman in Middle Earth and  as the carrier of the four  great elven weapons: the sword of Elrond, the bow of Galadriel, Gil-galad's spear and lastly, the white knives of Legolas Greenleaf.  Elrohir was the first of the four Greatest Warriors of the Fourth Age. After the Battle at the Black Gate, his father entrusted to him the Magical Ring of Air.  In many battles,  Elrohir fought side-byside with King Elessar and his son, Eldarion.

King Elessar Telcontar was once known as Aragorn II. He was a Numenorean, a descendant of Numenor. Numenoreans were former Elves who chose to become mortals, and hence were blessed with long life.

When  Aragorn ascended the throne, he became known as King Elessar Telcontar.  He married Arwen the Even star, daughter of Lord Elrond.  Queen Arwen later bore a son, who was known as Prince Eldarion Telcontar.

Prince Eldarion was the second Captain of the alliance. Being King Elessar's only son, he was heir to his father's throne. He was the greatest swordsman who ever existed during the Fourth Age. He bore the Ring of Barahir, a Númenorean heirloom. He carried  the Andúril --- the sword of his father Aragorn and Elendil which was widely-known as the Flame of the West.

Prince Eldarion became  the Second of the Four Greatest Warriors of the Fourth Age. His mother was killed in front of him by Melkor when he was at the age of ten. He promised himself then that he would stop Melkor, whatever it takes.

Lord Gimli II  was  the third Captain of the alliance. He was  Lord Gimli's first-born son  and successor. He was the representative of the Dwarves in the alliance. He became known as Oakenshield when he used a piece of  oak wood as a shield  during the Battle of Khazad-dum. He was the Last of the Four Greatest Warriors of the Fourth Age.

Olorin Mithrandir II the White was the adviser of the United Forces of Middle Earth. He was the greatest apprentice of Gandalf the White, the greatest Maia after Melkor. Of all the Maiar, he was the only one who wore a white armor out of  Mithril, the most precious element in Middle Earth.  He had a battle staff with an elven blade attached to it. He fought in many battles with the Captains of the United Forces of Middle Earth. When he arrived in Middle Earth in 4150, he was sent by Valinor together with a Maia, Melkonin,  known as Cosmolin Undomiel ---  the twin brother of Elrohir Undomiel, son of Lord Elrond of Rivendell.

In 4260 the White Council met in Imladris, a refuge for the Elves in Rivendell. In attendance were Lord Elrond, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli II, Elrohir, Eldarion, Olorin and Gandalf the White.

“The plan for our last battle in Dol-guldur shall begin.” Lord Elrond said.

They argued among themselves. Some of them believed that it was about time to summon the Red Arrow to gather the members of the alliance for battle. Then Elrohir spoke.

“Father,  give us three months to deliver the arrows to the Kings,” Elrohir stated.  “We shall assure you that our allies would receive them.”

“We need a year to prepare for the upcoming battle. Let us give our allies time to prepare their men,”  Maia Olorin exclaimed.

“ Then I should prepare the Red Arrows. They shall be forged, and three  days from now, they shall be ready, ” Lord Elrond explained.

“Father, in three days we ride for Amon Sul,” Elrohir said. “Eldarion, Gimli and Olorin,  prepare yourselves!”

“Do not forget that the enemy is watching our every move.” Gandalf whispered.

After two days,  a band of Orcs was spotted near the borders of Rivendell. Lord Elrond knew that these Orcs were up to something, so he chose to open the secret passage to Amon-Sul,  the nearest watchtower of the Realm of Arnor. Lord Elrond handed down the Red Arrows with runes encrypted on them.  These words were stated : “Middle Earth’s Battle has reached its end. We shall meet in Lorien two weeks before our attack at Dol-guldur”.  So the four rode to   Amon-Sul, informing Halbarad ,  the acting chieftain of the Dunedain rangers.  “ Halbarad, my friend,  the time has come to fulfill your oath to the alliance.” Eldarion stated.

“We shall come to your aid.” Halbarad answered.

The Four Great Warriors left Fornost, and it took them five days to reach Mithlond. When they arrived there,  Elrohir talked to the Lord of the Grey Havens. Lord Cirdan the Shipwright  was the great Lord of Mithlond,  the Elven Port The latter agreed to come to their aid. “Elrohir, how did this happen?” Lord Cirdan asked.

“I really do not know,”  Elrohir answered. “Cosmolin was once a good Elf, a part of the Maiar. How did Melkor corrupt him?”

“In time we shall know the answer, my friend.” Lord Cirdan whispered.

“Elrohir,  you better get some rest. Tomorrow before sunrise,  we ride for Sarn Ford,” Eldarion exclaimed.

The next day, Lord Cirdan started to build ships for the upcoming war. They left before sunrise. They rode to Sarn Ford in four days. When they reached  it, they did not expect that the Dunedain had already prepared their men. About  two thousand Rangers came to Sarn Ford. Eldarion then decided to talk to them.

“My brothers, we ride for Lorien. Lady Galadriel will be wating for us there, but we shall use another route.  We ride for Mithlond.  There,  Lord Cirdan has prepared ships for us,  then we exit at the Gulf of Lhun, then we go south and enter the Bay of Belfalas. Straight to Emnyn Muil, I, Elrohir, Gimli and Olorin shall be left there ; then you proceed to Lorien. Halbarad,   from there  you are on your own with the Elven Cavalry  of Lord Cirdan,” Eldarion instructed.

The Rangers prepared their horses for their ride for Mithlond.  For 5 days,  they travelled. When they arrived, Elrohir talked to Lord Cirdan.

“Lord Cirdan, are you ready to ride with us?” Elrohir asked.

“Yes, my friend. The ships are ready, and  we shall set sail in two days,” Cirdan answered.

They exited  the Gulf of Lhun,  and in  two  weeks they reached the Bay of Belafas. In another four days, they reached Emyn Muil. There, they stopped for a night. The next day,  they parted ways, but before that happened Elrohir whispered something to Lord Cirdan.

“Lord Cirdan, prepare your bows and arrows, light the mounted ones with fire. the path  might be dangerous, Orcs might be lurking there. The enemy is watching.”  Elrohir whispered.

The four warriors went down from the ships. They proceeded to Amon Hen, while the ships proceeded to Lorien before they reached the North Undeep of the Brown Lands.   The Orcs ambushed  the Dunedain and the Elves. All the Orcs perished and Halbarad was wounded. In two days, they reached Lorien. Lady Galadriel was ready for battle. Halbarad was brought to Lothlorien,  the capital of Lorien.
