Jo's POV
I can't remember a single time in high school when I was noticed. All that comes to mind when I think of high school is losing myself in my own mind. Do you ever wish the world would open up and swallow you whole? Well that's what I feel everyday. In high school I wasn't noticed by almost anyone. To break down what my school life is like I just try to blend in be invisible. I don't have friends. Because in my world friends don't exist. All people do is think about themselves. And no one is gonna take anything from me anymore. Beep beep beep. My alarm goes off and I hit the snooze button. I slowly got up and heard my brothers Jake and Jack arguing over the shower.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed a basketball off my shelf. "Outta my way ugly brute." Jake smiled. "IM YOUR IDENTICAL TWIN IDIOT!" Jack yelled. I threw the basketball at them and hit Jake in the back of the head. "OWW! Jack started it!" Jake yelled. "I did not." Jack told him. I rubbed my temples as my head ache settled. "I don't care which of you trolls started it I'm ending it." I told them. I combed my long hair and flipped my bangs out of my eyes. I grabbed my clothes and took my pajamas off. Once I was dressed I grabbed my stuff and went out the door. I normally did this so I could just run and feel free.
I got to school and everyone was interacting except me. As you may have guessed I was bullied a lot. My main bullies were Heather Alison Anne Maria Carter and Amy Prescott. All of them were the plastics of our school. I got to my locker and put my stuff away. "Eeeeeee there he is!!" I heard two girls shouting. I turned and saw one of the most popular guys in our year. Brick Austin McArther. Brick was on the football and basketball team and he got along with everyone. Surprisingly he was single because he broke up with Courtney Garcia after seeing her kissing Trent Mathews.
I rolled my eyes when I saw him and slammed my locker shut. "Hey." I heard him say. I looked at him and he was smiling. "What do you want?" I asked. "I couldn't help but notice you always sit alone so I wanted to ask if you'd like to sit with me and my friends?" Brick asked. Wow thanks for reminding me I'm alone. "Sorry I'm not looking for friends." I said turning away. "Everyone has a friend and I could be your friend." Brick told me. "Again not interested." I told him. The bell rang and I knew I was late. I walked to class and got embarrassed for being late. I sat down and didn't listen to anything the teacher said. I did the same thing for three periods until lunch.
When I got to the cafeteria it was the same old same old. Something weird about me is I'm fine with standing up for others but not myself. "Hey check out this loser." Heather smirked. I looked over and saw she was picking on a senior named Owen Turner. He was large and ate a lot. "Maybe if you weren't a tub of lard girls would actually date you." Anne Maria laughed. I walked over and slammed my fist on the table. "Hey you're disturbing the peace." I told them with venom dripping from my voice. They all looked at me. "What does this have to do with you?" Heather asked. "Yeah leave us alone." Amy told me. "Hmmm what's that you enjoy picking on people. Do me a favor and go be a slut somewhere else Kay." I told them.
"Jeez fine." Anne Maria groaned. They all walked away and could only grin. "Hey thanks for getting them to leave me alone. Maybe we could be friends?" Owen smiled. "No thanks I'm good. Oh and maybe you should talk to Izzy she's crushing on you." I told him. I walked to my usual spot under a tree. I sat under my little tree with my lunch and my music. Music was a way for me to escape. I listened to songs like love the way you lie and older. I was eating my lunch when Brick from before came up to me. "Hey thanks for standing up for Owen. It was a noble thing to do." Brick smiled. "Hey I wasn't gonna let them talk to him like that." I told him.
"Hey don't you go to the church here?" Brick asked. "Yeah I have to do this mission practice but first I have girls camp." I groaned. "I go to the church too except I'm with the guys. Maybe we'll see each other." Brick told me. I rolled my eyes as the bell rang. One thing I knew for sure I wasn't gonna fall for the same tricks again.
