Myra

It's a week before school starts and I'm trying to get ready. School is just so stressful. I'm now a senior and well...things are just really not at a good place right now.

I've been up and about with work. I work at Starbucks since I love it there. Always keeping a smile on for my customers. I want to have my own business one day. But right now I'm working on getting to college. I walked into Staples looking for the graph paper that was recommended for my Algebra II class. I couldn't find it so I went to look for someone to help me find it.

"Excuse me, sir? " I asked causing him to turn around

"Yes mam, " he said in this deep southern accent. It was very familiar, until I realized who it was.

"James?! " I asked surprised

"Oh god hey Myra" he said giving me a hug

"It's been awhile, even though we live in the same neighborhood" he said smiling

"Swear... we were so close when we were younger what happened? " I asked

"Well I don't even know... we were probably caught up with stuff, " he said

"Yeah...well what time do you get off from work, " I asked

"Well I get off in a few minutes, but what did you need " he asked going back to what I came here for

"Oh right, where is the graph paper? " I asked as we began walking

"Ah okay scholar... I'll show you where," he said beginning to laugh

"Haha shut up, " I laughed with him

He looked in the area that I previously was at and he was able to find it

"Okay so here you go... and you work right? " he asked looking at me

"Yeah I work at Starbucks part time its a really great job, " I said with a proud smile

"Ok I'm gonna have to drop in one day on my break," We laughed together and he helped me with the rest of my school shopping

By the time that we were finished checking everything off my list he was now off work and used his discount for on our way home. He got into his car after helping me put stuff in mine. James parked in his drive way and we walked over to my house to catch up on what we've been up to as we carried the bags inside.

"Mom, I'm home!" I yelled letting her know I was safe. Ever since my sister's incident years ago, she always wanted to know if we were safe.

"Hey baby," she said hugging me tight but then she stopped trying to see who was behind me

"Hey Mrs. Brown, how have you been doing?" he asked stepping in the house more

"Marcus, I should slap you for calling me that," she said looking at him

"Alright... sorry mam," he laughed hugging her

"Well I just made that Mediterranean Greek pizza that you and your father love so much," she began, "James, are you joining us for dinner?"

He looked over at me and I nodded

"Yeah I'll stay, plus I gotta try this Greek pizza that you talking about," he said smiling

"And it's really good," I said since I was craving it for awhile now

I went up to my room to go change into something more comfortable. I got me some sweatpants and a tank top with some black socks. I put my hair in a messy bun before going to help my mom with setting up the table. My dad was coming home in about less than ten minutes and I know that he should be hungry too.
