Kyrissian was watching his daughter closely from his lofty position in the temple. Everything that happened to her, or anything she did was reported to him daily. When he got word that she had gotten her adult scales, he was very pleased to see that she had an extremely rare color. Finally she could be of some use and make another young warrior a fine wife. The son of his commander would be perfect. Tyriss was around her age, maybe a little older. He was also moving up in rank quickly with his power. He was to the age where they would begin to consider marrying them off. It would take a little while to get it all arranged, his hope now was that Zell would quietly agree.
...
"Sadi! Watch this" Zell shouts out to him as golden magic flows out of her hands. The sword he had been practicing with begins to glow with that same hue. He feels it pulse almost as if the sword takes on a mind of it's own. Her strange magic that had been there since her birth had manifested itself much more dominantly now allowing her to manipulate metal. Sadi had also discovered a magic of his own in his words and now through music. The sword feels lighter in his hands, and easier to move. Zell smiles proudly,
"I can make swords and knives better with my gold!" She exclaims to him, pulling out her own little dagger she now carries for safety
"Watch this!" She takes the little glowing knife, the same golden energy wrapping around it, as she whips around and throws it into a tree.
"Okay, good throw! You've been practicing." He tells her, quite proud that she is learning to fend for herself some. She turns with a smirk and faces him again, as the knife comes flying back into her hand. He gasps as he thinks it's going to smack into her. When he sees her catch it, he breaths in a deep sigh of relief.
"I can make metal things come back to me!" She again exclaims excitedly waving the knife in the air. Sadi can only grin at his young friend, her coming into her own as she gets older. He offers a small suggestion, to encourage her
"Would you like to spar? I can teach you how to use a sword." He offers politely. She nods in excitement, but hears their mothers calling them in for supper.
"Maybe tomorrow Sadi." She takes off toward the house, and all hell breaks loose. As she runs in, there stands Kyrissian waiting to see his daughter. Zell looks upset that he is even here. He has brought several fine dresses, but none near her size at all.
"It looks like you finally will be honorable little one, you will marry Tyriss, the son of my commander and you will give him many strong children." Kyrissian explains to her in a firm voice, honestly not giving Zell any choice in the matter. Sadi comes walking in, rapier still in hand from practice.
"Why is he here?" He asks, his tone cold and hateful.
"Excuse you child, how dare you speak to me like that?" Kyrissian looks down at the young man, raising his hand to strike Sadi. As he brings his hand down Sadi dodges it like nothing. He gives the older warrior a glare, and then cuts deep with an insult. He lets his magic flow through the words, causing Kyrissian a massive headache
"Getting slower aren't you, old man" He snickers. Kyrissian simply withdraws his hand. He turns back to his daughter.
"You will do as I say, and marry Tyriss. I am your father and you will obey me."
...
Zell was a little off the rest of the week, she felt terrible about the fight Sadi had almost started about her. She knew that no matter how hard she tried to escape it, unless she left Chult or offered herself to the gods, then she would have to marry Tyriss. Sadi was keeping her company, as she was silently tinkering on one of her biggest projects. She was trying to construt a mechanical replica of a Kamadan. She was intently focused on it, her golden magic shaping metal and embellishing the sculpting. Zell hadn't said a word since her fathers visit, however Sadi was trying his best to get her to speak to him.
"That's a really pretty gem, it's the same color as your eyes" He murmurs softly. She just nods back at him, she takes a cast iron cruible and begins to heat up a small pool of metal. She pours the metal into molds of claws. Sadi is quite impressed with how she can use both the magic and her actual forging skills she had been practicing to make amazing things. Zell however still says nothing to him. Her mind is racing, both about her project and about her father. Finally she turns to him and says
"Let's go get some air" She seems distracted but gathers up her little dagger, and makes sure he's geared up.
"So.. Sadi, what are you doing once your training is done?" Zell wants anything to take her mind off of her father and especially off Tyriss.
"I don't know. I'll think about it. After all I don't have to really get serious till I turn sixteen." He mentions, him just recently hitting fourteen. He had thought about it some, that the world out there was bigger than he could imagine, and he wanted to see it.
"Well, tell me after class okay? I have writing to go to." She says trotting off to the temple classroom. He planned to stay outside and wait for her, practing his footwork in the court yard.
...
Zell was excited when class was finally over, she had to finish it out because it was unfair to let her finish early despite her already being fluent at writing in several languages, not just common. She puts away the paper that she didnt use, and rubbed the ink off the quill before putting it in a jar with the others. She doesn't hear Tyriss sneak up behind her. He corners her against the supply shelf and covers her mouth before she can scream.
"I don't approve of you being around Sadi. You're promised to me." He snaps it at her like a command, to which she responds by biting his hand. He reels in pain, turning around and grabbing her hair.
"If you won't marrying me willingly, then I'll mate with you by force. Then you'll have to marry me under temple law." He says pushing her to the ground.
...
At this point Sadi was beginning to get worried, Zell never stayed this long after class, and the teacher had already left. Figuring he'd go in and check on her, he slips in to witness Tyriss throw her to the floor. He feels his blood boil.
"Get away from her!"
