Patton is rushing out the door of his apartment. He runs down the stairs to the lobby. As he passes through, he waves to some people hanging out. He normally would stop to an actual hello, but he's running super late. He runs out the door of the complex and down the street. He hopes he isn't too late.
Patton had totally lost track of time. He had just been in his apartment practicing his drums, so he can keep improving his skills. He's hoping that one day he'll get the chance to finally join a band. He is supposed to be meeting a friend at a park nearby, but he had gotten lost in the beat of his drums. When he looked at the time, he realized he was supposed to be at the park in 5 minutes. He had jumped up and hurriedly gotten ready, and that's what has led him to run down the street toward the park.
Patton makes it to the park in fairly good time. He walks over to the bench where his friend, whom he was supposed to meet ten minutes ago, is sitting.
"Greetings, Patton," the friend greets closing the book he had been reading.
"Hey, Lo! So sorry I'm late. I lost track of time," Patton says with an apologetic look.
"Don't worry, Patton. It's not that big of a deal. I do not have much going on today anyway," Logan replies.
"So, what were you reading?" Patton asks curiously as he sits down next to Logan.
"I was reading up on the history of the bass guitar," Logan states showing Patton the book.
"I didn't know you were into music! Why haven't you said anything before? Do you play an instrument?" Patton exclaims.
"It is not a topic that has come up before. I do play an instrument, and as surprising as it may sound, I play the bass which is why I was reading the book," he replies.
"I play an instrument too!" Patton says grabbing the picnic basket he had brought. He gets surprised when he opens the basket. He pulls his drum sticks out of the basket with a laugh.
"I take it you play drums, then?" Logan says with a small smirk.
Patton laughs then replies, "Yea, I must have thrown them in there in my rush out the door."
"I hope you packed more than just your drumsticks."
"Oh no, I packed the food! Don't worry," Patton says pulling out two sandwiches.
At that moment there is a loud commotion near the water fountain not too far away. A fairly large crowd can be seen gathering around it, and the once tranquil park becomes overrun with noise.
Logan groans. He didn't like that their peaceful gathering was interrupted.
"Wanna go somewhere else?" Patton asks.
"I would like to. If you are alright with that," Logan replies.
"I don't mind," Patton says, happily.
"I know a nice coffee shop not far from here," Logan states.
"That sounds perfect," Patton says.
They gather their stuff and head out of the park going just down the street to a small coffee shop.
Meanwhile over amid the commotion at the fountain is someone who just wanted to take a peaceful walk in the park. He was recognized though and that's how this mess started. A crowd bombarded Roman as soon as the first person recognized him and said his username. He loves greeting his fans, but it's gotten a little annoying being crowded around anytime he went out in public.
The crowd is yelling lots of things at him. Some people want him to sing for them. Others ask for autographs. The rest try to get a picture. As much as Roman tries he can't get the crowd to settle down. He can't find a way to slip out either. He starts to resign to his fate when someone's voice rings over the crowd.
"Is that Music of the Storm?!" A voice calls over the crowd.
The crowd disperses excitedly trying to figure out who said that and see where this Music of the Storm went. As the crowd runs off in different directions all that's left is Roman and a stranger in a black and purple hoodie.
"Come on before they realize that there was no Music of the Storm sighting and come back," the stranger says.
"Thank you," Roman replies.
"I know a place where we can go. It's never that crowded," the stranger states.
"Lead the way," Roman says.
They start walking in the same direction Logan and Patton had gone not too long ago.
"So, what's your name?" Romans asks after a bit of silence with them just walking next to each other.
"Virgil," he replies.
"Why did you help me get out of that crowd?" Roman asks.
Virgil just shrugs nonchalantly. "I could see that you really didn't want to be there."
"Thanks, again."
"Whatever, it's nothing," Virgil says. "We're here."
They arrive at a small café. Virgil enters first with Roman following behind him. As they enter, a small bell rings. On their right is a small bar area where the cash registers are. On the left is a little stage. Tables are scattered around the place and booths line the walls.
"Go to a booth in the back. Do you want something?" Virgil says.
"Sure, but my usual coffee order is pretty long," Roman states.
"I'll get you something," Virgil states.
"Ok," Roman says heading to the booth toward the back.
Virgil sits on a stool. "Hey, Remy," he says to the man behind the counter.
"Sup, Virge. Usual?" Remy says.
"Yea and some sweet tea," Virgil says glancing over at Roman.
"So, what's the tea? Besides the sweet, that is. I don't usually see you with other people," Remy says then gasps excitedly, "Did you get yourself a boyfriend?"
"No. I did not. I just saved his #ss from a crowd of fans," Virgil says rolling his eyes.
"Oh, nice. So, who is he?" Remy asks.
"The Music Knight."
"Seriously? Oh, I am totally going to see if I can get him to take a gig here," Remy says.
Virgil gives Remy a look that says, "What the hell, dude?"
"Oh, chill out Storm. I appreciate you playing for this small café, but it's not every day a recognizable star walks in," Remy says handing Virgil his coffee.
"Well, you're welcome," Virgil says taking a sip of his coffee. "What's funny is that I thought someone recognized me when I first started hearing a commotion," Virgil says with a small chuckle.
"I'm not surprised. That's just like you. Now, you should probably go over to him instead of chatting with me, about him," Remy says.
"Yea, alright. I'll text you later about the gig tonight," Virgil says, getting up.
"Got it. Thanks, gurl," Remy says.
Virgil goes over to the booth where Roman is sitting. He hands him the sweet tea and sits down.
