PRINCE JIMIN
After spending a long day just wandering around with Seokie, I finally decided to retire to my room. It was already late at night and the castle seemed oddly silent. As I was walking past my father's room, the door opened suddenly making me jump a little. There stood my father with a not so pleasant look on his face. He motioned me to come in and I followed obediently thinking what could it be this time. He settled down on his bed and told me to take a seat too. I sat down at the edge of the bed, waiting for him to start speaking.
"Jimin, where were you all night?"
"I was with Hoseok, Father"
"How many times do I need to remind you to be responsible? I understand Hoseok came home after a long time and you want to spend time with him. But that doesn't mean you start becoming careless"
"I'm sorry Father. It won't happen again"
"Hmm"
"Anyways, coming to the main reason why I called you in. You remember the royal ball I told you about? I hope you didn't forget about it"Oh my! I almost forgot about it!
"Of course not. I remember it. But what about it?"
"As it was decided, the ball is on your birthday which is two days from now. My great friend, King Yoon of haru kingdom will also be present there and as a matter of fact, he has a beautiful daughter. Get to know her well and give her your utmost attention. I think she'll be the best suitor for you."
As soon as he said that, I felt my heart sink and a lump formed in my throat. How badly I wanted to tell him the truth, right here right now. But I was so scared that agreeing with him seemed better than arguing or coming out of the closet so I just nodded and accepted my fate.
"As you say Father. I'll try my best to not disappoint you"
With that I got up, wished him night and exited his room. I was tired before the conversation took place but now I feel too restless to even sit down. I needed to clear my head or at least get some fresh air. I decided to go into the enchanted forest. I've never been to the forest at night and I know it can be pretty dangerous going in there at this hour but I was too lost to even think about it. I again sneaked out of the castle and immediately made a run for the forest.
I ran and ran and ran, not knowing where I was going but the wind in my hair and the feeling of breaking free was too good to even stop. I stopped running when I was out of breath and that's when I finally noticed my surroundings, I've never been in this part of the forest before but it was worth it. It was really beautiful. As I slowed my pace and strolled aimlessly, I heard croaking of frogs. Wait! croaking of frogs? It means there must be a water source around here somewhere. I followed in the direction the sound was coming from and sure enough, there was a beautiful lake surrounded by really tall trees. The water was glistening under the moon light and it seemed to be something out of a fairy tale. I took shelter under one of the tall trees and sat down leaning my head on the trunk of the tree, just absorbing in the beauty and serenity of this place.
As I was sitting there relaxing, I sensed a sudden change in the air. An odd silence took over the forest, like the quiet before the storm. I got a bad feeling in my gut and immediately stood up alerted. I cautiously looked around my surroundings, allowing my eyes to see as far as they can under the little light moon provided. I kept squinting my eyes and scanning the area around me and that's when I saw three dark cloaked figures approaching the lake. My eyes went wide in fear and panic started settling in my system. I almost froze but then I realized that I needed to hide somewhere if I wanted to walk out alive. Running away from here seemed more of a threat right now, because if they catch me making an escape, I don't know what they'll do to me. I quickly scrambled my head for ideas and decided to climb the tree. Good thing I knew how to climb a tree and was safely up on a branch till the time they reached the lake. I quietly looked down and observed what they were doing. One of the cloaked figures took something out of a bag, a bottle of some kind with a dark purple liquid in it and handed it to the tallest of them and then the one standing in the middle started saying something to him, it wasn't audible to me but then the tallest replied back to him and walked to the bank of the river. He emptied the content of the bottle into the lake and the water slowly turned into a dark shade of purple.
