Prologue
In college back home life was hell, the week after graduation I pulled the pin of my old life out and the damn thing exploded in my face.
But I was the one to pull the pin. I could have stayed at home, depressed and angry as hell, and have been fine. In exactly one week I'd sold my car, and all of the furniture and items I owned, leaving the pool of hell that was my life. And the moment I told my parents I was moving across the country, they didn't let it go quietly. I thought my dear mother was going to kidnap me and lock me in the basement. After promising my overprotective parents that I would be safe, and call frequently I headed to the airport. It didn't hit me until I was about to board my flight and calling my best friend telling her I was moving to Illinois.
It all seemed to hit me in that one moment all perfectly clear, shining in my face.
I was more than ready for change.
"Hey stranger, it's me," I said into her voicemail as I heard my flight being called overhead. "I'm coming to visit for good. When you get my message text me. Love you, Peyton," I said ending the message.
I smiled, thinking how happy she was going to be knowing that she is getting her best friend back. Walking over to the boarding terminal, I handed the counter attendant my ticket, pulled my luggage behind me, and got my skinny ass onto the plane ready to start brand new.
And boy oh boy was I ready to get the hell out of here.
